Forums - Movies & TV - Movies you like that others hate

I have a few that I gather most people disliked:

Avatar and Titanic by James Cameron.
Showgirls by Paul Verhoeven.
Interstellar by Christopher Nolan.
Star Wars Rogue One by Walt Disney.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine by Gavin Hood.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Most people actually don't hate Titanic its 7.8/10 on imdb, 89% fresh on rotten tomatoes and 75 on metacritic.

The Hobbit Trilogy.

Zardoz
Only God Forgives
Lost River
Novocaine

None of these are masterpieces, but I would argue that the first three are legitimately great, and Novocaine is really good. All have terrible reputations however.

The Last Jedi

You have no taste.

I have never actually seen The Last Jedi. I just knew people who dislike it would react ridiculously. And you proved my point

The David Lynch version of Dune, especially the extended BBC cut.

Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls. One of best movies ever.

Originally liked the first one most. As an adult, I find the sequel to be superior.

What are some of your "guilty pleasure" films?

Some films I like that others hate are:

Transformers (2007)-I know everyone loves to bash the Bayformers films (and for good reason), but I enjoyed the first one a lot. Everything else after was trash IMO, especially 2 and 4. I still haven't seen the 5th one yet, but I heard it's somehow even worse than 2 and 4 SMH.

The Fourth Kind is another film I hear a lot of "meh" things about, but found myself enjoying.

I also found myself enjoying G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra for what it is (the second one sucked).

I also enjoyed Bad Boys II as a popcorn flick, I must've watched it dozens of times on DVD already. Looking forward to the third movie (Bad Boys for Life).

People hate Bad Boys II? I was just living in a bubble this whole time, and thought everyone liked it. I too watched the DVD many times, it's a classic to me.

Well, it's a summer popcorn/action flick, of course it has its share of haters. It has user average scores in the 6s on all the major movie review sites (IMDb, RT, MC, etc.).

Oh and another guilty pleasure movie of mine is the first Scary Movie. Yeah, sure, every film afterward was terrible, and it did spawn the career of the 2 most untalented and unfunny hacks in all of Hollywood who produced nothing but godawful, unfunny, unwatchable garbage films (Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg), but I actually kinda enjoyed the first one. I remember me and my boy used to reenact jokes from that film all the time back in the day, mainly the "aw man, am I fuckin' stoned" one.

Which BTW, there's a reason why they WERE 2 of the 6 writers from Scary Movie: it's because they were fired for being untalented hacks. They obviously wrote all of the jokes that sucked.
