Forums - General Discussion - Admit it! You're addicted to online validation.

Everyone wants that pat on the back, and sometimes we need that reassurance when things are down or just to encourage us to push on.  But how many of you are actually checking social media or even going on this site to see how many "likes" you have or how many people have responded to a thread you've started?  And when you've put so much time and effort those videos you've created and uploaded, the number of view don't go past the 3-digit mark?  You keep clicking and refreshing, but the number of views and likes just aren't going up fast enough.  Admit it, you're addicted to online validation.  And that's why you are here on the Chartz.  This is your breakfast, lunch & supper.  Or where else do you get your meals?

Are you trying to tell me that humans are social animals? Next thing you're telling me is that there is some kind of reward mechanism in our brains that release addictive hormones after we experience positive social interactions.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Sure. Every horsey wants his apple. I'm really missing my youtube channel right now, because I'd love to upload a couple of EDF 5 videos, partially for the purpose of self aggrandizement.

1.  I do not know how many, but I do know that I am not one of them.

2.  No, I am utterly indifferent to that sort of thing.  I don’t care about views, likes, followers or whatever.

3.  Actually, I am on the Chartz to be aware of gaming news.  I’d probably use Twitter if I actually cared about online validation.

4.  The real world comes to mind.

Not as much as I used to be. In fact, I kinda dislike attention. When I see that I've been quoted, I think "Oh no! I'm about to be picked apart!"

But I do like when people think my Facebook comment is funny... Until I get too many likes and I delete it.

I am? I mean, it does feel nice to get some validation or whatever you want to call it, but addicted or even acting for it? Nah, not really. If I notice a good chance to get some validation and it lines up with my thoughts, I'll take it, but it's a fairly rare occasion.

Oh, right. Back on topic. Yeah, right, I'm here totally for the validation! You were keen to observe that, so props to you for that! And thanks for noticing as well, makes me feel quite valid.

I can be whoever I want on social media and dating profiles and I find a punch of pics and make claims online. Online I can be a hot chick or male model on Tinder and getting flooded with messages and matches boosts my ego. I am hot, hot, hot!
