Nintendo games don't have "great gameplay". They are just lackluster in every other department so people say they focus on gameplay.

Major Nintendo games get high scores because minority of game press grew up with Nintendo. And have a bias towards their older franchises like SSB, Zelda and mario. Objectivity is never the case with their reviews.

Turn based gameplay is boring. I just liked south parks because it's south park and it was funny.

Games like the walking dead/heavy rain are awesome

Multiplayer games still have so much room to grow. Games like destiny and the division are games that are still early in the road of achieving a living, immersive world with strong story and incorporating other players. This is still the start and hopefully Devs understand that quality and new ideas are needed instead of just adding content and extra missions.

Guerrilla Games make some of the best gameplay in the industry. Killzone was always fantastic

Including women who are just badass and can kick ass is not "empowering women" in gaming. As the result is just a lack of personality and depth. Instead of focusing on making awesome female characters the result is a lame, boring "oh I can do what ever a man can do" female characters

What are some opinions you have that most people would disagree with when it comes to gaming?

These are a few of mine:

1. Tomb Raider is better than Uncharted

Sure the story is much better in Uncharted, but I just find the gameplay so much better in the Tomb Raider games. I've tried again and again to play Uncharted, but the gameplay feels too clunky for my liking.

2. Bayonetta is boring

Again, I've tried to play Bayonetta multiple times, but I find it really boring. It's not that I don't like hack 'n' slash games either, I like DMC and the old GoW games.

3. The Last of Us' story isn't that good

It's an okay story. The strongest point for me is the atmosphere, that's what makes TLoU so incredible.

4. The Witcher 3 bores me to no end

Yeah, I said it. I can't play this game for more than a few minutes without getting extremely bored. Maybe it's the fact that I played it right after BotW...

5. The best developer today is... Lucas Pope

You know that guy from Papers, Please that released Return of the Obra Dinn last year? Yeah, he's my favourite developer. That reminds me that...

6. Return of the Obra Dinn is the best game I've ever played

It's just a spectacular game. Innovative, fun, intriguing, mysterious. It looks good, it sounds good. It's the best gaming experience I've ever had.

Those are just a few out of my thousands of unpopular gaming opinions. Share some of your popular gaming opinions too, I'd love to hear them!

I can't speak on the others because I haven't played those games. BUT, I also found Bayonetta boring. Although, it's not that the game is necessarily bad, only that I am not really a fan of what they were trying to do with it. I was also not a fan of an earlier P* game called Madworld.

Recently, I have run into a few things in this forum that seem unpopular, where maybe out of 50 or more people there MIGHT be one other person that agrees:

1. The battle system of Octopath Traveler is bloated and ruins the game.
2. Child of Light is gimmicky, and the RPG system ruins the game.
3. Rune Factory Frontier was one of the very greatest titles on Wii, arguably the best. (a positive one!)

Some more that many others have expressed similar opinions on, but not quite the 49-1 ratio. Probably more like 1/5 to 1/4 - still unpopular

4. Final Fantasy 9 is a solid but bland entry into the FF franchise that genericizes earlier elements rather than stabbing out forward. (OK, to be fair, I'd say this one isn't QUITE as controversial as the others, a lot agreed with some of the stuff)

5. Zelda was stuck in a rut from the N64 days until it broke it with Breath of the Wild and to a lesser extent Link Between Worlds; to explain further, the N64 titles did something great and original, but then Celda really only had its art style/animations, otherwise repeated all the mistakes of the earlier games: find the key/Switch in this MASSIVE dungeon to continue type puzzles. or "needle in the haystack" type gameplay. Again, like the FF9 thing, many agreed. While most love Breath of the Wild (even say tthat it's the greatest Zelda game in history), most won't say that Celda through Skyward Sword weren't very good games; I do.

6. The Gamecube controller is one of the worst ones out there - a large number of people love this one; for me it's always felt like the buttons are not quite where they should be, and playing games (like Mario Kart) were a very hand-crampy experience. Other than that, certain Wii VC games (such as Street Fighter 2 and Mario World) were virtually unplayable due to the button configurations and other limitations of the controller (d-pad, less than desirable response on the triggers, etc...).

7. The Pokemon fanbase are addicted to whining. I pointed out that they were literally whining about opposing ways of doing things with Let's Go and Pokemon Sword & Shield - where they whined about things in Let's Go not being like the last game, and then in Sword/Shield whining about how they changed them back. I got a nasty criticism from that "we're not the same people, so we weren't whining about things" - and even if that were the case, none of those whiners were being supportive of the changes in Let's Go in the earlier threads - they STILL just love to whine.

8. The game Bravely Default was not very good. Was one of the most repetitive games ever, and the most overrated RPG on 3DS. Basically, any game that you have to use speed-up mechanisms to make the battle system tolerable DOESN'T HAVE A GOOD BATTLE SYSTEM! I am looking at you FF9.

Now for some popular unpopular ones (because they're actually positive):
9. Metroid on NES is the best or one of the best in the whole franchise. Weird for me to say, because I wasn't a big fan of the other Metroid games, but something about this one captivated me, and I find it surprising that something with this level of design came out in 1986. This is a rare opinion, it doesn't really anger most people, but those who share it are thrilled to see others that agree.

10. The original version of FF1 is FAR more fun than the newer ones. A very rare opinion. This one doesn't seem to anger anyone, though. Basically, the original NES one might be unplayable to many people today: there's no in-game guide to who can equip what from the weapon screen, so you could buy a Silver Sword, and discover later that you have no one who can use it - IMO THAT could be fixed - my real gripes are that the original art is IMO timeless and should not be "fixed" as well as the original convoluted MP system, where there are different levels of magic with their own MP gauge: Fire 1 would be a level 1 spell, but Fire 2 would be a Level 3 spell, and each would have separate MP, each spell only uses 1 point - so a wizard could travel through a dungeon, use their level 1 spells all up, then level 2 and so on, but save their Level 6 (for example) for the final boss. Later versions combined the MP and added Ether spells, basically, only your newest spells were useful, and you could heal your MP at any time, meaning a black mage just FRIED every enemy in its path in a dungeon, making the game significantly easier than before - I hate that! FF1 is a very short game, what makes it great is creating weak parties and winning!

11. Terranigma is one of the greatest games ever made. It seems this Action Adventure/RPG (I say this, because it's more of an action adventure as far as the combat goes, but more of an RPG as far as virtually all other systems in the game go) was not very popular on the SNES, it came out at the end of the generation when most people were looking at N64 and PSX. You begin in evolutionary time, then reach civilization, and work your way through to future times, there's massive plot twists, and during the civilization phase you build up villages to cities by completing certain side-quests. The game is from the makers of Illusion of Time and ActRaiser, as well as Soul Blazer, and it somewhat combines elements from those three games to make what is IMO one of the finest experiences gaming has ever produced.

12. People think I have too many unpopular opinions, that I'm a contrarian, a jerk, a complete asshole. That I must have anti-social personality disorder. That I am like the Nazis.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Mass Effect Andromeda is actually quite good and a worthy enough entry for what was a fairly inexperienced team at Bioware. It deserves a true sequel.

Age of Empires was better than Starcraft.

Call of Duty single player campaigns are usually quite good and worth playing through.

Deus Ex: The Fall (mobile game) was good enough to warrant a sequel.

Alpha Protocol was actually a good game and better than the original Mass Effect.

The 3D Zelda games post OoT up until 'Breath of the Wild' were all too formulaic and whilst competent games, should have had more creativity applied to them.

Shadow of Mordor is gimmicky and just not very good.

Resident Evil 6 was a great action-adventure like Uncharted, but with better combat, more action & content.
It may have been a really bad survival-horror, but a really good action-adventure. I believe if Resi 6 wasn't a part of the Resident Evil series, a new IP, it would have got a better review because nobody would have expected it to be like the previous games when it is a good game in itself.
(I love Resident Evil 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 7 way more than 6 btw, but I still really enjoyed 6 for other reasons).

I have (or have/had in the household): ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amiga, NES, Sega Master System, Super Nintendo, Sega Megadrive, Gameboy, Playstation, Nintendo 64, Windows 95, Gameboy Colour, Windows 98, Sega Dreamcast, Gameboy Advance, PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, Windows XP, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, Windows Vista, iPhone, Windows 7, 3DS, Wii U, PS4, Windows 10, PSVR, Switch, PS5 & PSVR2. :D

and I Don't have: Magnovox Odyssey, Any Atari's, Any Macintosh computers, Sega Gamegear, Virtual Boy, Sega Saturn, N-gage, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PSP, PSVita & Andoid Phone. Plus any non-main-stream consoles/platforms I haven't mentioned.

Or the trope that the female in question firstly needs to put a man down or shut down a man before doing the thing the man was supposed to do perfectly like it is nothing. :p

For me, NHL Hitz Pro and Xtreme-G III were two games that absolutely made the Gamecube controller's button placement seem heavenly.

I can imagine a game like power stone bieng meh, but, when you wanted to keep your thumb firmly on the main button but use the side or back of your thumb to tap one of the others at the same time (especially rapid style) it was ecstasy compared to ANY other controller ever made.

Besides Mario 64, 3D Mario games are probably thee most overrated games on the market. I've felt that way since Sunshine. Galaxy was a major disappointment in my eyes. The game felt empty. That's the best analogy I can think of. 3D land was somewhat of a decent game but again something felt off. Most recently Odyssey was just flat out boring. I couldn't even imagine my younger self being as entertained as I was playing 64 or earlier installments. Just to be clear, none of the games are bad games. Just not even close to what people claim or their 2D counterparts which are lightyears better.

Final Fantasy in general is extremely overrated, and far interior to Dragon Quest.

Random encounters are great.

I never thought this was an unpopular opinion until the last year or so it seems that people on the net have come to hate games with them.

I enjoy the suspense of not knowing what Pokemon is going to jump out at me from the grass, or what monster I'll have to fight in Octopath/Dragon Quest. It doesn't make or break the game for me, but I like them. (The way encounters are handled in Earthbound/DQXI is my favourite though; with enemies on the overworld, but with a semi-random element in that more than one spawn in battle)

Japanese gamers think they're too good for western consoles/games.
