Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox "Going Big" At E3 This Year After Sony Drops Out

Guess they probably will announce Xbox Scarlett and tease some of it's launch window games then, even though it won't release until Holiday 2020, a year and a half after E3 2019. Hopefully they line up some good 3rd party reveals again like they did last year.

I would build some Hype much earlier this time for Next Gen, and E3 2019 seems perfect to show some very impressive footage from some launch window games; in june it will be 1 year and 5 months to go for Scarlet, good to have a glimpse about what to expect and start the hype train.

I'm one of those people who thinks that it's more likely the next-gen consoles will launch in the Holiday 2020 period, but I just had a thought ...

What if Microsoft not only announced their brand new console, but did a full-on reveal? They would tell the price, the specs, the capabilities, and the noteworthy games coming day one. It comes out March 2020, half a year before PS5. They give an entire showcase of Halo Infinite, similar to what Nintendo did with Breath of the Wild at E3 2016, albeit it with a lot less time (maybe around ~10 minutes). They reveal the new Ninja Theory game, Xbox next-gen exclusive. And Gears 5 is releasing Holiday 2019, but the game is being released as an enhanced edition either at launch of the next-gen Xbox, or a few months after. And when Holiday 2020 comes, either a $50 price cut and/or one or two great bundles.

Granted, that's the best case scenario, and it isn't the most realistic. Also, Xbox 360 had an even better early release lead, and it still was caught up to by the Playstation 3 in the end. Still, it would be kind of interesting to see things go down that way.

They're probably going to get a lot of trailers and announcements by default this year so it really could be one of their biggest E3 shows.

I didn't even think about this till it was discussed in this thread. With Playstation out of the picture, Microsoft will automatically get a lot of the third parties that tend to go to Playstation at E3. Maybe not after E3 with marketing deals, but still. That's impressive too because they've already had great third party reveals at their E3s in the past (2018 was amazing).

The only problem with your NBA analogy is that Malone objectively lost to Jordan in the Finals. There’s no room for debate, it’s factual. Meanwhile it’s not outside of reason to believe Microsoft “won” E3 at various times this generation.

Get.Over.It.

Get over what? Not sure what you’re saying here.

Im glad Karl Malone retired with no championships.

They say this every year. I'm not expecting any thing special

This.

They say the same thing every year ("We heard the players" , "This year will be the best in a while", stuff like that), and we have the exact same thread every year.

Yes, Sony not being at E3 changes things a bit, but it will still be the same thing as usual with a few more multiplatform games on top.

Revealing the next console now would be too early anyway.

Definitely. Too close to the xbox x reveal.

Makes sense. They are no the only major player attending with a Press Conference. Time to show out as it were. However, after this last gen I am not holding my breath.

For the sake of competition I hope they kill it.

Sure sounds familiar. Where have I heard this before?

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

The fact that Sony keeps spanking Microsoft's ass in the console market.
