Forums - Gaming Discussion - Just finished Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice...................Wow

Tagged games:

So like i said just finished this game ( on PS4 Pro) and i was absolutely blown away, God of War piqued my interest for another Norse mythology type game as I found God of War  to be one of the best games I've ever played, Sooooo saw Hellblade on sale (EU) for 12 quid so couldn't resist at that price. Went in expecting a sub par God of War game considering games budget and tiny development team but I was absolutely blown away by the quality of the game, from the graphics to the frankly best sound effects ive ever heard ( you gotta wear headphones though) to the absolutely compelling story.

I think this is probably the best video game I've ever played, definitely  up there with my personal GOAT's like Breath of the Wild, The Last of Us, God of War, Ocarina of Time and GTA franchise. So my point is if you have any interest in Norse/Celtic mythology, enjoyed God of War, or just a fan of game that tell a fantastic story give this game a try. You wont be disappointed. Defy me and the Darkness will come for you......

I've been thinking about trying it.

My backlog is huge.

I will eventually get around to it.

I need to return to it sometime after I finish my current games. From what I've played the game looks interesting even though gameplay-wise it is not great.

I was very surprised how much i liked it, what a fantastic experience

Really? I couldn't even finish watching a lets play, it was too samey. Take a walk or canoe ride, beat up a few weird looking dudes, complete a puzzle, rinse and repeat.

i cant imagine its great to watch because you need to wear headphones to get the full effect. Alos arent most games to go from A to B do a puzzle and maybe kill a few dudes? its the journey that makes these adventures stand out see for instance The Lord of the Rings. Isnt that essentially a few dudes walking or riding from A to B completing the odd puzzle and killing a few weird looking dudes? Its the visuals, the musics, and most importantly the emotions  conveyed by the story that makes these instances fantastic. AKA Senuas sacrifice.

Maybe, but not the ones I play. Hellblade didn't become an instant classic, it looked like an exercise in making a walking sim 2.0

This game has been in my thoughts for a while, you just convince me to get it.

Only thing I liked about it was combat, mostly due to ability to do feints, which so many games lack.
Other than that, I pretty much found everything else to be quite unappealing to me very early on in the game.
Still, glad NT did well with it and setup (or popularized) somewhat of new model for making games, with high production value, yet limited scope.

Ye its a pretty phenomenal game, with a very personal and touching story. I liek the gameplay quite a bit too despite the critics it gets from some ppl.
