Forums - Gaming Discussion - Assassin's Creed as a concept is the best Franchise in Existance.

They go to any place and any time. They are the only ones to make a AAA Ancient Greece, Ancient Egypt, well ancient anything game.

They have a major blight. The DLC policy around them stenketh. I am finally getting around to playing origins and I hate the fact I am tempted to spend money to get ability points.

But back to my point. We need to recognize the AC game for what they are. They are the only AAA games ever made that target OUR history. Not some fantasy dragons and shit stuff, they dive into what real places and add some mystical stuff (much of which is lore based) in.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Well its certainly a good formula. They can keep making what's in many ways the same game over and over and change the setting.

Not inherently bad because the gameplay is enjoyable.

maybe I should be giving UBI the credit for actually making games based on OUR history.

I dunno, the protagonist in these games always runs like he just shit his pants

Doesnt Origins have this discovery tour mode where you learn about Egypt? Stuff like that is pretty neat and should be in more games.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

I don’t really think that games based on history makes them good...

It makes me appreciate that type of work because a ton of research has to go into it... but generally fantasy games are more fun imo.

And just because a game is considered fantasy, doesn’t mean it’s shit like you implied.

That’s a pretty narrow view of game quality.

Egypt and Greece. It does and it's interesting, but is way too much to go through at once and does get a little stale by the end. I think they knew this and used multiple narrators, both male and female, to try and keep it lively. They even point out quite often what's historically accurate, what's been created out of educational guessing, and what's pure fiction within the game world. Pretty sure there was a trophy for going through the tour as well. Something to improve on in the future if they continue the historical side content.

It's AC in name only now, playing odyssey and hit Lv50. Just a third person adventure game.

Assassin's Creed is science fantasy though. You enter a time machine with a strand of DNA. That's what they've retconned it to, at least, since the former explanation was even more ludicrous.
