Forums - Gaming Discussion - *Surprise!* EA Cancels Open World Star Wars Game

I don't think Disney cares too much: I assume they just want to lease out the IP to whoever.

Good good. Let the starwars franchise die.

If they were ever gonna pull the plug from EA (at least as far as an exclusive license, if not outright revoked), they would've done it already.

So sadly, it's here to stay in their grimy mitts.

EA and Disney Star Wars can both go get fucked. The perfect couple. I hope they can work things out.

EA and Activision cost cutting eh... doubling down on franchises probably. The sooner these two companies disappear the better.... I can honestly see Ubisoft joining them in the way they make games in the next 5-10 years.

God I feel so bad for the Star Wars IP. It get's stuck with Disney, one of the biggest money-whore companies ever to exist, and on the games side it get's stuck with EA, which is fucking EA.
RIP good Star Wars content

^ basically.

I just want another Knights of the old republic (rpg) star wars game.... guess its too much to hope for.

^ thats depressing to read.

Apparently a good single player game would take too long to do, they want profits here and now, so they cancelled it so they could pump out something quick (like 2year dev time) and rush to the market for profits.

Its like these people dont understand that quality takes time, and quality means better sales, and happy user experiances.
Rushing something quickly made out the door for short term profits isnt always the smartest move.

Which is a shame, because I really liked Mario + Rabbids and the Rayman games.

Yeah the tiny piece of soul left in Ubisoft lingers into the remains of the Rayman franchise, everyhting else made by them feels so fabricated to me.

Psst, Disney, go talk to Nintendo...

What? Come on, you know a Retro Studios Star Wars game would be the hypest fucking thing since Metroid Prime. Cancel that dumb Star Fox racing game that's obviously going nowhere and make an open world Star Wars game that'll make Mass Effect blush.

Edit: Come to think of it, even if Disney doesn't talk to you, Nintendo, cancel the Star Fox racing game and have them make the game I just described, but with Star Fox instead, since Disney's too stupid to do it with Star Wars. Han Solo was a smuggler, Boba Fett was a bounty hunter, the Star Fox team in a game like this would basically be a cross between the two, mercenaries for hire.

Star Fox Adventures Flashbacks...

I just wanted another Star Wars RTS game, and I know there were at least two types of RTS SW games made back in the day. It's too much to ask for anything within the SW universe, put into a game these days.

When Disney owns it, it has to appeal to everyone, not just us, which has also become a part of the problem for more games not being made, EA just happens to be the one holding the keys and being an absolute buffoon with the IP.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

Am I the only one who would love to see Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 3? And I am saying this as someone who doesn't like Star Wars (but still enjoyed these games).
