Week 2 numbers have been added. 2019 is off and running to start the year, extending its lead to nearly 100k.

I think an additional column is needed to see the weekly change, not just the total difference to last year at that point.

Done and done.

It'd also be interesting to do a comparison vs 2014 3DS sales.

I would be more interested in this than a PS4 comparison.  I think we all know that the Switch is going to clobber the PS4 in Japan.  3DS 2014 vs. Switch 2019 would be a more interesting match up.

I guess I should have phrased the Poll Question better:
I was asking for the interest in doing a comparison between this year and last year for the PS4 as well, as in PS4 in Japan: 2017 vs. 2018.

Not really, the 3DS did 3.15 million in 2014, waaaay down from the 5.09 million it did in 2013 and is actually less than what the Switch did in 2017. If the Switch is doing good enough, I may include a comparison against 3DS' 2013.
3DS' 2014, however, would be a total curb stomp.

Between w.2 and w.45 Switch lowest was 31,720 and highest 54,647. That's quite remarkable. Fire Emblem in the spring, Animal Crossing hopefully during the summer and we should at least some movement outside of the holidays :P

71K, so the advantage of 2019 grows by another 28K to over 120K after just 3 weeks already

If animal crossing, fire emblem, yokai watch and Pokemon are spread out throughout the year the switch should do a lot better than 2018 in Japan.

I would add Dragon Quest as well, I know it's late port but I see it selling over 1 million.

I forgot that was releasing this year, that should at least give a little boost.

Just updated.
3 weeks into the year and 2019 is already up by over 120k.
I'm not too sure if 70kish is the new baseline for the Switch. Still taking a wait and see approach with that, but it should hopefully still be higher than last year's.
