Forums - General Discussion - What's the point in having children?

If you See having children as a reproduction to populate the world, please never make children. Never. I dont want to have any Child have a father Like you. A Person asking whats the Point of having children should never ever Touch a Child.

I am a Proud father .I Love him about anything and i would give my life to him anytime He needs it. Thats having children. If you See Them as Objekts and dont even Understand the simple meaning of beeing a Parent never make one and never Touch one. And stay away from my kid. God knows what you could do If you think that way about children.

I heard people saying that, they never even come close or know anything about immigrants and just repeat what others say.

Its easy to be closeminded.

I know for a fact that it is happening in Sweden because my employee's son has been living and working there for over a decade, every day on streets and in grocery stores he sees dirty (literally) middle eastern immigrants with their little children, they don't want to work and live off the gov $$.

Ofcourse, you know someone that knows someone that saw someone, what a great source you have there to be generalising so easely.

I'm not generalizing, I'm saying that some immigrants milk the system that way.

Same as some naturals. A friend of my mother had a kid and used it as an excuse to live off government money. She didn't want to work as the government provided enough to live decently enjoying plenty comforts. Some people are just lazy. That was in the Netherlands.

My mother used to work with refugees helping them settle in and I never got the impression from her that they were lazy. One did attempt suicide by train and lost a leg. That's also a way to milk the system...

Yeah i just find it pretty closeminded to attach such habits to immigrants when its something all people do and that only because he heard some say.

This kind of thought just makes the gap between groups of people even wider and unneeded xenofobic behaviour grow out of it.

Seems you had a good mother to learn from. :)

So I'm a complete DINK (Dual Income, No Kid) and it's pretty great. My brother has two kids and my sister has five, it's a struggle for both of them. It's pretty amazing knowing we have a savings account and can handle emergencies or go on vacations on a whim. My wife and I are both pretty thankful for that and have no plans to have children even though we've been together for more than 15 years. My brother and sister both have all sorts of worries and a long weekend is a rarity for them. My sister has her fist kid turn 18 this year and another 16 so now she has to worry about college *and* cars. I imagine not having kids has prevented A LOT of stress.

That all said, kids are a nice cure for Wednesday boredom. The Wife and I love each other and have a good time, but at least kids keep things interesting?

We've never had a pet together (I grew up on a farm with a silly amount of dogs and cats), that will change in about a month. The Wife will have to get use to having _at least_ a cat so that should be fun and _almost_ like a kid.

Well, some deities considered them tasty  , who are we to object?

This has been stated a couple times but I'll just reiterate it. To me, the choice of having kids was because it's a life experience that I wanted to have. I wanted to know what it's like, to experience the shitty times where he didn't want to sleep consistently, to the great times where he just runs up and hugs me for no reason and asks me to play with him because he loves my company. It's a different kind of relationship than I've ever had before because you're so invested. I have spent countless nights with little sleep, every second of every day I have this little person I have to keep in my mind and watch over. By the end, I think it's almost impossible to not love the little guy with all your heart because you've put so much time and effort in it would be irrational to not.

...

All humans have some instincts which tell them: "You should bear new humans to avoid your extinction". And that is the main reason, I think.
But some children are really nice, and when you look at them you think: "He will be a great person who will make the world better." So that is the reason why I am going to have children some days - to make the world better by giving it a good person.
