Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is LABO going to explode this holiday?

Paper and candles are certainly what some explosions are made of.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

No, it won't explode. Nobody seems to really care about it.

Just to remember that 1st bringing users historics on threads are not considered good behavior. Attacking people due to their preferences also aren't.

Regarding Labo that is SHIPPED which is different than SOLD.

If exposing a clear pattern is considered bad behavior, I couldn't care less honestly. I'm not the one coming here to mostly create threads trying to downplay a company I dislike. And I never attacked someone for their preferences in this thread, this is not my MO, I just stated something very clear that anyone can perceive... lol. You can check on the threads I created here (there are positive ones regarding everything, maybe except Microsoft, lol). It seems like you're the one jumping to conclusions about everyone very quickly.

Btw, that's all I wanted to say as I already expressed my views towards the main point of the thread (Labo exploding), so I'm moving on.

The way to expose bad behavior is through report and PM a mod, not posting links of other threads.

Discussion and argument shall be made by the points made on the conversation not posts made in other discussion or disqualifying who is talking.

I'm not native speaker, but for me it was very clear.

I am a native speaker, and his post seemed quite clear to me as well.

So it seems the text itself wasn't the issue (and considering everyone but that poster understood the OP as well). I really don't appreciate the silly remarks of "perhaps you aren't a native speaker" because most often than not it is made by someone that doesn't know a second language and think he haves superior understanding of something because he is native speaker of english.

The vehicle kit is at less than 45k sales in Japan and after 3 months is only 60-80% sold through its greatly reduced initial shipment per Famitsu. That is not in any realm of okay when compared to what the variety kit did. That is a humongous collapse in sales.

Like you said though, it was a greatly reduced shipment, and if it's 80% though sold, then that's actually okay all things considered. The thing to keep in mind too is that Labo is comprised of multiple Kits, so even if one doesn't do as well, another one can pick up the slack. So those 40k sales of the Vehicle Kit can get added to the 210k sales of the Variety Kit and the 90k or so sales of the Robot Kit, bringing the total sales to around 400k in Japan, pretty decent for it's first year I'd say.

Are you expecting it to be similar to an ever green and keep selling steadly for the rest of the gen?

Yes. Even Nintendo said something to that degree when talking about it. Labo's not for you, or me. It's a niche toy aimed at kids and parents who's kids have a Switch. Very different from the likes of Wii Fit or Nintendogs. So while not system seller per-sae, it's shaping up to be one of the Switch's signature titles, especially as more kits get released, which only add to the total sales of Labo.

If you think it will behave like evergreen than 1-2M a year surely can be quite good output for a new product that they can later refine and improve.

I personally liked the idea,  but frowned on the execution.

As a Target employee, I can confirm I have seen several being bought recently, though that is just a single target so what does that say?

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

I've seen it in the clearance section/bargain bins so I dont think so.

And in my opinion LABO will sell even less than I predicted right after its lanch. First I thought that it could sell 2 million lifetime, but now I am not even sure about that. And it most likely will sell a lot less than what Nintendo expected. Fortunately.

Why "fortunately"? Why is it not a good thing to have a game introducing children to engineering succeed?

Labo goes agains the consencus that children's toys need to be somewhat durable to stand against theim for a good amount of time. Paper is not that durable.

Cardboard is also extremely cheap and replacable. You can make your own creations from nothing but boxes what you'd throw out for recycling. It is an innately brilliant idea. Children destroy things. Labo makes total sense and wouldn't work at all as an introduction to engineering if it was made of preset plastic.

I really thought it was going to be huge around the holidays...but yea. I dont see it being anything large. I haven't seen any commercials for the product either.
