Oh Breath of the Wild, you beautiful beast!

And yeah, Ultimate did pretty well.

Nearly 75K for PS4 - not too shabby! Wonder how the KH3 bundle will do next month.

I keep reading everywhere Sony abandoned Japan this gen, but when PS4 finish selling in the future, the console would have Monster Hunter World, Dragon Quest XI, Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts III, Resident Evil VII and Resident Evil 2, Persona 5, Bloodborne, .....

Those are really good games you can only play on PS4 in Japan (XBO is like it doesn't exist there so don't act surprised). To me is an even better support than what PS3 received.

Predictions (actual)

Week 47-125k (108k)

Week 48-150k (120k)

Week 49-325k (281k)

Week 50-325k

Week 51-375k

Week 52-200k

Total-1.5m

YTD-3.75m

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I better not EVER hear anyone say that Smash is a niche franchise and that it only sells to Hardcore Nintendo gamers. That narrative is dead

Fantastic week for PS4 hardware!

Here is the week 49 update in terms of the two big consoles in Japan's path to be able to reach the commonly stated (in these sales threads) estimates for 2018 sales (2 mil for PS4, 4 mil for Switch) .

TWS GD YTD % Goal AWN (Change)
PS4 74,496 -70,074 1,496,214 74.8% (+3.7) 167,928 (+23,358)
Switch 281,222 -89,213 2,799,481 70.0% (+7.0) 400,173 (+29,738)

TWS - This week's sales
GD - Goal differential, the difference between the average week needed from last week compared to this week's sales
YTD - Units sold in 2018 so far including this week's sales
AWN - Average weekly sales needed to reach the estimate for the console.

Huge week over week increases for both systems. Smash debuts incredibly strong and the PS4 promotion if off to a good start. I was well under both systems on my estimates though after overestimating Switch the first 2 weeks I'm about even now, but the promo threw off my PS4 predictions entirely.

Personal Estimates

NS: 120k, 145k, 240k, 200k, 295k, 250k = 1.25m would end just above 3.5 mil for the calendar year.

PS4: 20k, 25k, 30k, 25k, 40k, 30k = 170k would end up just above 1.5 mil for the calendar year.

Absolut Nintendo domination!!

All Nintendo software also went up significantly, only let's go only dropped 1%, which is not bad considering releases. Still, it went over 1 million!

PS4 has a nice expected HW rise, but software did not go up at all.

Damn. Big numbers all around. PS4 at 74k is impressive without any releases! Still holding on to its lead

Looks like PS4's 5,000 yen price cut and two free games managed to boost sales as expected, but not enough to bring it up from this time last year.

Yeah, PS4 had big boost but again lower than last year, and this deal was really great, I mean you with this deal saved around 15.000 yen.
