Forums - Website Topics - Changes to Software Tracking – 2019 Onwards

That makes sense. Traditional software charts are getting more and more unreliable.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

It's a rather responsible and insightful decision on your part. I wish you all the success with implementing the new tracking system. Times change and so must we.

All my thanks to this wonderful team - Machina, CGI, trunks, Talon and so forth...

Regarding the bonus 6 months: My supporter status still reads as expiring on Feb 23 2019, which is the date I signed up for silver last year. Is normal?

I'm adding them right now :)

Ahhhh! Ok. Thanks for the quick update. Mine reads Aug 23 now.

Wow. Truly a historic moment for the site. I always imagined something to this effect was coming, but I hoped it was still a few years off. I'll miss the retail estimates, if only because I like knowing how much is selling on the retail end of things. I hope we're still able to get a retail/digital breakdown from time to time. If only "official" charts are being uploaded, I guess that means we won't be getting ranked lists of the top 75 anymore? I mean I can't imagine you'll find official sales data for that many games, certainly not updated on a weekly basis. What will these official charts look like? Or do you just mean Media Create, NPD, and the like? Are there even official charts for all of Europe? And NPD is just US, so North American sales won't include Canada and Mexico anymore, yeah? And we just won't have data for "Rest of World" anymore, as there aren't official charts that I'm aware of tracking anything outside of Japan, Europe, or North America.

The end of an era...feels like we're heading into a dark age. I wish video game companies were more transparent with their sales data...

This is probably a wise decision for the reasons you lined out in your post. Just wanted to say thank you to the team who keeps the site running, the recent changes have really paid off in my opinion and made VGChartz a better experience and this should be another step in the right direction.

I understand the decision but it’ll definitely steer me away from the site, looking at the estimated numbers for all games—including smaller ones, was fun. Even though the numbers aren’t completely accurate.

End of an era. Those weekly charts are why I visited this site for over 10 years and why I signed up. I'll give the new system a chance before making a judgement.

Yeah, me too. Software and Hardware charts.

But I'm curious to see how this new system will work out.

I also not gonna lie that software charts were one of the main reasons I came into this site. Of course I will give it a chance to this new system. What I am afraid tho is that with this shipment system means that we will only get updates once in several months and only for a few games.
