If you think Nintendo devs liked making Wii games so much, then why didn't they keep making motion control games?

My guess is that they ran out of ideas. Nintendo has always been a bit of an ADHD company, constantly shifting their focus to different concepts. They figured the Using the Gamepad's motion controls, and the Wii Remote, in conjunction with each-other would be a great idea. When that inevitably failed, they went right back to the split-motion controller concept with the Joy-Con.

I see what you're trying to argue here regarding Nintendo's mishandling of the Wii's last few years and the Wii U, I just don't buy it.

The reason you "don't buy it" is that you don't understand Nintendo.  I mean you say they have always been an "ADHD company".  If that's how you see them, then you are going to reject any reasonable explanation in favor of saying, "I think Nintendo sucks just because."

I honestly think from this point on we'll see a much higher trajectory regarding sales. I was skeptical of Nintendos 20 million FY prediction for instance but with Pokemon moving a good few units the week before black Friday and then Black Friday still to come, smash seems to be moving Hardware in the US at least according to Amazon though I'm not gonna put too much stock in that. We'll have to wait and see how well it does on the NPD predictor. Add to that the 2D Mario game releasing in January and then a stream of Quality titles that may help sell the system through next year, I think we'll see sales rise. They won't explode though until Animal Crossing and GEN 8 Pokemon release.

Because they were aware that not every game needs or even benefits from them

You are saying that "in their wisdom they rejected motion controls in favor of the Wii U gamepad".  Not a great explanation.

No, just saying that they felt that some games just didn't profit from motion controls.

And hey, the Wiimotes work with the Wii U, so certainly they didn't reject them in favor of the gamepad. And they are still not rejecting motion controls, just look at the joycons

Okay, so I don't understand Nintendo, despite the fact that you pulled your whole "their first party developers hated making Wii games" argument out of your ass. Second, I'm basing this on Nintendo's ACTIONS over the years. It's hard to argue looking at what Nintendo has done over each generation that they change their focus on a more constant basis than the other two. I even gave an example. Nintendo went with a split controller with motion for a 7th gen console, then dumped it for a tablet controller in its successor, now they're back to the split controller concept for their current system. Or how about Miiverse, despite all the hype and buzz it got among Nintendo and its fans, they abandoned that shit as soon as we got to the Switch.

So what is the criteria for "explode"?

I do believe Switch has the potiential to sell like crazy, and the oppertunity for long term growth, however, I think it will take both new hardware and software to make it happen.

This is what Nintendo needs next year IMO to set the Switch on fire.

Switch Mini $199.99
-A smaller pocketable Switch, with the same power as the current Switch, and twice the battery life.

Switch +/Pro/X $299.99
-A new Switch, same size as the current model, but with an edge to edge display. This model takes advantage of the new 7nm SOC to add extra CPU/GPU power. They also shoot for a 5 Hour run time on most games.

Switch Phone $399.99
-A Switch Mini, with 5G/4G/3G. Ability to make Calls and Text. Built in Front and Rear Cameras. NFC. Bluetooth.

That is the hardware lineup that I see blowing things wide open. Most of all the Switch Phone and the Switch Mini, which would reach new audiences, while the Switch+ would still target the core gamer.

Then to go along with the new hardware, you can start adding more casual, and non gaming content. Once they have the Switch Mini and Switch Phone, then stuff like Brain Training, Switch Fitness, Nintendogs, and new QOL applications make since, and start helping to sell hardware. They can go after the app developers, to bring the big guns, like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp. Instagram, and the like to the platform. These will help maintain the sales explosion.

If they can do this, while not loosing focus on keeping AAA Nintendo Exclsives for the Core Gamer, then Switch and Nintendo will have a very bright future. The market is ready for some disruption in the Mobile space. $1,000+ Phones have gotten out of control, and many, many people do nothing more than call text, and browse the web on thier Phones. Nintendo coming in with a $400 Switch Phone, that covers those basic needs, while giving people access to an incredible lineup of 1st and 3rd party titles, that would rock the boat, and it would mean great things for Switch and Nintendo.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

KBG29 on PSN&XBL

brain age flopped hard on 3dswii lie games flopped along with wii sucessor.
its done.
but yet they tried pursuit new audience on pokemon lets go(go players) and labo. they should keep tryin this new things that offer more than a phone can do.
But they still need a cheaper and mini switch

I think part of the Wii's success was also how much cheaper it was than the Xb360 & PS3.
It stayed like 100$+ cheaper than its competitiors.

Imagine if today you could buy a 149-199$ Switch...... Sales would be drastically higher.
