I assumed one of the Champions would make it to the main game, but none did, and now Urbosa and Revali were shown as Spirits so I’m not so sure anymore...

I didn't notice that but honestly I'm glad. Ever since Smash 5 was announced people said one of the Champions should be in. Which imo does not really make sense given that in the game they basically just give you new abilities. They are like a guardian spirit ... more like a trophy than a character. If one Champion was in all would need to be imo. 

Skull Kid is listed as an assist trophy on smash site so that’s basically deconfirmed.

Maybe they go with Prince Sidon instead.

Slime (Dragon Quest/SE) - Dragon Quest deserves representation in Smash for being one of the most influential RPG franchises in Japan and for its continued presence on Nintendo platforms.  While characters like Erdrick or Bianca would be more popular choices in Japan, the Slime would be more recognizable worldwide.  I can see SE being okay with this since Dragon Quest XI is releasing on the Switch next year and they're trying to increase Dragon Quest's brand awareness in the west.

Jibanyan (Yo-Kai Watch/Level-5) - While the Wii U had Splatoon as its breakout hit, the 3DS had Yo-Kai Watch.  With Yo-Kai Watch 4 coming out next year and all of the work Level-5 has put into Nintendo handhelds, they deserve a spot. 

Steve (Minecraft/Microsoft) - Most nostalgia people would say that Banjo-Kazooie should be the rep if Microsoft and Nintendo ever decide to play ball but Steve (or another Minecraft rep) would, by far, be the better choice if Nintendo were looking for sales and profit.

Rex w/Pyra&Mythra - I don't care that they made Rex into a Mii Costume.

Skull Kid - Long requested and relevant again because of the Majora's Mask remaster. Forgot he's an assist trophy.

Dixie Kong - Relevant again after Tropical Freeze.

ok i will try something a little bit different.

1) Edgar from Final Fantasy VI Final Fantasy 1-Vi were nintendo exclusive for a long time. and there's no doubt that VI was one of the best sellers on SNES. since Square is getting final fantasy 7, 9 10, and 12 on switch, it's wouldnt be a big stretch to include a caracter from this serie. Edgar would be interresting because he use tools to fight. But i also think shadow and celes would be good picks...

2) fulgore from killer instinct. Yeah i know it's one xbox one now, but killer instinct had a huge impact back in the days. fulgore is one of the iconic caracter from this serie.

3) Sir Arthur from Ghosts 'n Goblins. he's a very well know caracter, he was in fighting games before. his games was both on the nes mini and the snes mini.

4) Kamek is in way more games than geno ever was. i think it would be a better caracter to represent the mario series

5) Mike from StarTropic. This game deserve much more exposure than it had. but i know this is a more western centric title.

I like Isabelle, but the fact that she got in before Rover or Isabelle is a disgrace
