Forums - Movies & TV - Venom was my second favorite movie of the year, just behind Infinity War Venom, aquaman is second and very close to first

Tied for 3rd.
1. Infinity War
2. Black Panther
3. Venom and Christopher Robin

Edit: And based on the trailers I've seen for Bohemian Rhapsody, Venom may get bumped down to 4 or 5.

I’m kind of curious about it. Someone told me “it is affably bad, and it wields it’s dumbness like a weapon”.
If I can make peace with that, maybe I can enjoy it. But my tastes align too closely with critical consensus to seek it out. If it finds me, I’ll give it a try. But I’m not going to seek it out. I’m glad people are enjoying it, though, and I hope the franchise has a bright future.

I might go see it this weekend.

CPU: Ryzen 7950X
GPU: MSI 4090 SUPRIM X 24G
Motherboard: MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE
RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM 32GB DDR5
SSD: Kingston FURY Renegade 4TB
Gaming Console: PLAYSTATION 5

My top 8 so far this year goes like this:

1. Avengers: Infinity War

2. A quite Place

3. Hereditary

4. Black Panther

5. The Incredibles 2

6. Deadpool 2

7. Ant-Man and the Wasp

8. Venom

With the way critics described it, I expected it to be Fantastic Four(Miles Teller) levels of bad. This was actually a pretty fun movie and really wished this had the possibility to crossover with Tom Holland's Spiderman. Venom is such a fun character.

I've seen it twice, not because it was a good film, infact in some parts it was just bad but because of Venom (plus I have a cineworld card so go to the cinema as much as I can).

It had a slow build up, was jumpy and some parts were really poorly acted, and a bit 'stale' in plot but as soon as Venom showed up. Film got a huge boost.

Hmm, pie.

Very sad about it.

"Every day I look in the mirror and ask myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?". If the answer is no for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something"

So you overall have bad taste in movies... The only way Infinity War could ever win best movie of the year is if it is the only movie that comes out in a single year. Oh my, how fast a medium can slip from art and dig itself into an industry that only carters to the lowest common denominator.

Soon we will reach the point where punching someone in the face will be the backbone of reality shows that run for several seasons, as in "Sorry to bother you" a movie that is, you know, actually good. I am sorry for this short rant but when I see most peoples top 10 I just get depressed...

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

It was funny sometimes but very predictable and painfully cliche.

+1

Yeah, the "my favorite 2018 movies"-lists in this thread confused me as well.

I guess that's why some people want Sony to stop making movies. These people only watch the cookie-cutter blockbusters loaded with fan service, CGI galore and cool jokes and Sony suck at making those.
