PS4 version only just released in the west this month though so it would impact its sales if has more content especially with the momentum JRPGs are finding on the Switch and the 3DS version not being brought over.

Then game has been announced for years now. Why would footage of something we all know exists impact that?

And I think people are riding on the "new content" a bit much, because they've alluded to including what was adding during localization of the PS4 version. Square used to release "International" versions of all their games because they would add things during the formerly long localization times.

Because they could add more appealing features in the newer version like how XII got a job system or Vesperia got a load of new content including characters on PS3 over the 360 version. Persona has term known as being FESed because a second version of 3 came out a year or so later with new content and the fanbase felt slapped in the face, fact is new content if significant can have a big affect.

Glad I got this last week on PS4, as it seems Switch version will be adding very little of interest. I genuinely hope Switch owners get this game soon though, because it's awesome!

While I'll never actually touch it on the Switch (or PS4 more than likley, praise be native 4k support on PC), i'm looking forward to seeing the Switch version. SE have clearly had a lot of trouble with it, so it'll be interesting to see what it ends up looking like.

I expect the biggest issue they're having is that they know the Switch version will be very popular (particularly in Japan), so it needs to be a great port. Porting good looking PS4 titles down to the Switch is already difficult, but when they're 30fps and you want the port to be good, it becomes a real challenge. Significant asset reworking becomes a strict necessity, and looking at the fairly barebones graphics options on the PC version I'd guess a lot of those lower quality Switch assets are having to be made specifically for it. Combine this all with the engine difficulties they had (I believe they were using an older version of UE4 than the Switch supports? Correct me if I've miss-remembered that), and I can understand why it's taking a while to make a solid port. I expect it'll hold up well compared to the PS4 version, but it'll be fun to examine the specifics.

It's okay SE, just port the 3DS version in a two-in-one bundle and I'll double-dip. Have the PC version right now, but heard there is a lot of extra content in the 3DS version, and I want to play it.

I'm expecting additional stuff on the same level as what the 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII got because it's going to take a lot more than Japanese voice acting and orchestrated music to get people to buy a 2+ year old port that was announced in 2015 at full price while the PS4 version sits at half the price.

The game runs on a version of UE4 that doesn't support Switch. So in order for them to port it, they also have to make upgrades to the engine.
