We all know the answer is "no".

We all know if this was about Nintendo hardware, you could just check out your files and provide quotes and links within mere minutes!

Because some people don't base their threads on made up fake outrage to glorify their console.

I must admit I was quite sceptical regarding the Pro. This generation I went with PC gaming, however, I still love console gaming, and one of the things I like is its 'closed system' characteristics. When I buy a console I know that I will not have to upgrade for quite some time, and all games that I buy will simply work as the devs intended.

So, with the Pro, I thought that this paradigm would be broken, and we would start seeing a lot of games not properly working on base PS4 (severe framerate issues, etc.).
Of course there are huge differences between base PS4 and PS4 Pro games, but I think base PS4 owners don't really feel neglected, so, in my opinion, Sony did a great job with the Base/Pro ecosystem. Kudos to them.

I just don’t know if, when PS5 is released, some users will not buy it in order to wait for a possible PS5 pro.

I have my PS4 Pro upstairs and my wife has the OG PS4 hooked up downstairs. I remember playing God of War on my Pro, and then watching her play on the OG, and the framerate issues on the OG were very noticeable. Had the PS4 Pro never been released, maybe the game would have been optimized with higher framerates on the OG PS4.

I'm happy with my Pro, but that doesn't mean that the precedent that has been set makes us any better off.

Edit: It might impact the leap in graphical power between generations, which comparing PS5 to PS4 Pro might not be as impactful and may make PS4 Pro purchasers feel as though they can hold off on upgrading to the new gen.

As long as the normal PS4 players are treated the same as the Pro owners by Sony, I have nothing to complain about the Pro. And so far I have been really happy how things turned out with the Pro.

I didn't ask for a PS4 Pro. It's was just a great Surprise by the wifey when it showed up with God of War. I was only expecting the game but now it's my main Console. The OG PS4 is my secondary Console. I have lost nothing out of this. I like that the there are options out there. With that being said I would have to say that the Xbox One X isn't a bad thing either. It's only issue is it's lack of support for good quality 1st party games. That is it.

Yep, pretty much this!

My OG PS4 still does the job fine but I'm still not happy about the fact they sprung this revision on me mid-gen and I'll probably hold off on the PS5 until its revision arrives.

Signature goes here!

I don't care at all about extra frames and pixels, but I do care about a console's size, so that's why I went with the slim model instead.

they had a mid-gen upgrade for pretty much every of their handhelds, so if you managed to fight off the temptation to upgrade then I don't know why you would take offense now that this might become normal in the home console space aswell

Games didn't look or ran better on them though. It was just a cosmetic upgrade...or downgrade if you didn't like the new design.

Gbc had colour

Gbasp had internal rechargable battery and back light

DSi had extra memory and camera

Nds3 xl / n2dsxl feature new processors with an extra analog stick.

Congratulations. Now we will get new updates to consoles every 2-3 years.

I see this as a good thing.

People that want to play current games at the lowest possible price can upgrade once every 7-8 years, a year or two into each generation.  But, people that want every bit of power available, but like the convenience of consoles over PCs can upgrade every few years.

Basically, gamers have more options, and options are good.
