Forums - Sony Discussion - So I Tried a PSVR For The First Time Today..

I have started studying at university and there were a bunch of stalls for different clubs and different companies.

Here in the UK we have CEX it's exclusively for buying and selling used games, anyway there was a PSVR booth they were running and they only have Driveclub VR working so after talking to the manager (who I'd actually met a few days ago when I traded in Spiderman) I got to try it out..

Long story short, I'm buying a PSVR next week.

Sony, just before Christmas last year, had a stall in my local city shopping centre which had a display and had PSVR at it. I had a go at Gran Turismo VR, it wasn't setup to my vision, wasn't the best of games for it but I enjoyed what I played.

I like the idea of getting it but wonder if I'll ever use it as much as I think and that's my worry. After WipeOut which I'd have to get (haven't bough PS4 version as I have it on PS3), what is there to play? What is the "killer app"? I fear I'd spend £250 then do nothing with it.

Hmm, pie.

This may be a silly question but can you watch stuff on the PSVR? (ie. Netflix)

Yes and it's awesome, 5.1 virtual surround sound which even with the standard buds is pretty great but with a good headset is better than actual surround sound imo. That and a choice between a 70 incher, 9 footer or a cinema size screen

Wow thats awesome!  I feel like everybody that's tight on space should get one of these instead of TV then lol (maybe all those people in Japan that live in really tight spots)

Have yet to try any VR... Would like to at some point but not sure I'd invest considering the set-up necessary.

Congrats on your future purchase.  Make sure to check out Moss when you get it.  It is a very engaging game that shows VR does not have to be all about FPS games!

Whoa! Rare post!

Yes, I believe you can do everything under cinematic mode.

Good to know, thanks!

I tried using it for a bit in watching Netflix but in the end I stopped.  I have a 4K TV and PSVR video mode is way to low resolution to make it worthwhile.

Do your self a favor and pickup Firewall Zero Hour by far one of the best so far.

Seconds Battlezone, RES Evil 7, Driveclub, Superhot, Wipeout Omega, Megaton Rainfall, (The Last Guardian VR-Free)

I like VR but my only concern and what holding me back from getting one is eye safety. Since there are no long term studies, I see you guys are the beta testers.

If you hook your headset into the headphone port and have social screen on you can avial of the surround sound even though, you won't get the full effect. Not sure if it works with 4k though or the old breakout box.

I may try that.  I already use a nice headset with my Tv in order to not keep the misses up at night.
