It's a shame the handheld fight is now going to be between Nintendo and the mobile market, they are so different that there is no real competition between them, and so no real improvement will come from the clash.

There was no real competition between Sony or Nintendo either and no real improvement "from the clash". Both served a fairly different audience, and Nintendo never really tried to answer Playstation's allure, vice versa too. It's not like the 3ds came out and it was a totally different machine from the DS because Nintendo thought "hey, let's steal the PSP's userbase!" The whole "competition is always needed!" thing is said a lot but rarely thought about. Consoles like the Xbox One and PS4 are a great example of why competition matters, the DS and Playstation Handhelds not so much.

I don't know if Sony will never make another handheld, but I think they should focus on PS4 and PSVR right now. And then, PS5.

Best Mobile device ever made. To bad Sony decided to pull support for it, and throw $5+ Billion in the burn barrel called Xperia.

Hopefully they will return with an X86 based Mobile, with M.2, HBM, Solid State Battery, and 5G.

The Mobile market has fallen greatly in the past 5 years. It needs Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo to shake things up. Aple and Google are easily the worst market leaders I have ever seen in any industry.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

i don't think Nintendo's handheld's are also gonna survive against Mobiles

3DS is also bad saleswise compared to the HUGE DS sales

Maybe, but you can say the same thing for certain consoles if you directly compare them with PS2 (PS3 for example). The DS can very much be considered an anomaly in the handheld market.

Anyway if you think Nintendo handhelds are going anywhere, anytime soon the Switch clearly shows otherwise. Compared to the entire 8th gen console market it's only trending behind 1 out of 5 systems.

ive known a few people with Vitas. at a time i thought it was kinda cool. all games could be purchased digitally, you could use it to watch movies and TV shows that you have stored on it, i think for a while there were a lot of games, mainly indies, that were only available on Vita if you wanted them portable. but now its just been second-bested by everybody else. even a budget phone today is as good of a multimedia device as a Vita. a few years after the 3DS launched, all of their games started having digital options. and im not even sure what kind of games its getting anymore. sure it looks pretty, but thats about it at this point

Sony should try again with a renamed brand. They already made their mistakes, albeit, they still haven't changed it (overpriced Memory), but now maybe they'll wise up, especially after seeing the Switch. It's a good and viable business model if they actually invest in it more, and stop being stubborn about the SD cards. Micro SD's go up to 500 GBs now, they should test out the waters with a pure digital only handheld.

Cool stuff. Has it surpassed the Zune yet?

Even Vita is getting pirate like crazy now, use Micro SD cards will help that happen a lot faster and sooner.

It's really too bad. I loved the PSP and it continues to be my favorite handheld but it had a troubled lifetime and the Vita suffered those problems ten times over. The Vita never had a GTA for the west or a Monster Hunter for Japan so this was to be expected.

Um, in JP Vita have Monster Hunter Frontier Z
