Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony first Party games sales, A huge leap from PS3 era. ( Entered Ninty Level ) Update: GOW at 10m & Uncharted 4 16M

PlayStation is not known for their first party games except few .they sell fine.but their first party games always has better production and quality than the competitors.in this gen PlayStation is the only brand which provides great AAA single player games.everyone else are chasing the multiplayer crowd.imo PlayStation should decrease it's production value because they can't sustain this level of quality forever.also it will give them more profit on their games.they should just stop AAA production and focus on AA games.just look at how nintendo making AA games then selling them at more profit.

Yeah Sony’s first party games have been doing amazing this gen. Helps that they’re actually good. The Last of Us’s number was the combined PS3/PS4 sales though, so let’s say the PS4 version sold about half, which is still amazing. Uncharted’s definitely at 10m by now.

I would've expect them to confirm it, if it was the actual case.

Might be short from the milestone though.

Uncharted 4 is WELL past 10m by now. If it can sell 8.6m in its first 7 months, there's no way it's not sold 10m in 27 months.

Lack of announcing a milestone doesn't mean anything, just as was proven by the recent PS4 sales announcement. Some were saying PS4 was overtracked because Sony hadn't announced 80m sold-thru and they "always announce every 10m." Which was previously true, but then they skipped 80m and announced 81.2m.

Uncharted 4 sales should be anywhere from 12-14m by now.

Spiderman is up next to join that list, which is great for Insomniac too

I wouldn't call Spiderman a first party game. They don't own the IP nor the studio who developed the game in question.

And yes, great leap and very good sales for Sony this gen, but not quite Nintendo level.

Spiderman is a full PS4 exclusive because the colaboration was between Marvel and Sony, and the latter then chose Insomniac to delevop the game. So yeah, it's not 1st party, but it's still an exclusive.

And why Sony with Gran Turismo, Uncharted, The Last of Us, Horizon, God of War, Spiderman, is not quite at Nintendo level???. We are not discusing historic sales or how things were 10 o 20 years ago, we are talking right now. Those games are 10m+ sellers or are going to be soon and Ghosts of Tsushima, Days Gone and even Death Stranding could probably be close to those numbers too. How many  10m+ sellers does Nintendo have??, Super Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart, Smash Bros and Pokemon, and after those, a level below, maybe Mario Party and Animal Crossing. I'm not saying Sony surpassed Nintendo, but it's very very close right now, so to me, it's a valid comparison.

You're making the assumption that these games are already gonna be 10+ million sellers?

Wish we could have said the same for Knack, The Order 1886, and Gravity Rush (a great game, but unfortunately didn't set the world on fire with its sales)...Not to discredit or malign Sony, but nothing's a guarantee. Not a lot of people thought Splatoon would be one of the most popular IPs in Japan among the likes of Pokemon and Monster Hunter.

No, I'm saying that those games COULD be CLOSE to 10m sales. And by the way, I forgot Splatoon, a game in the same level for Nintendo. A game that someday could be a 10m seller too. And sorry, but don't put The Order, Knack or Gravity Rush in this topic, please don't troll me, . NOBODY expected those games to be 10 million sellers. I'm naming Ghosts of Tsushima and Days Gone because those games, are polished open world games like Horizon Zero Dawn or Assassin's Creed so they have the potential to be successful too, and by the reactions of the people, I'm pretty sure Ghosts of Tsushima will reach a success similar to Horizon, that's my personal bet.

They had a lot of momentum on their side coming off the PS3 and they were able to take advantage and capitalize. Now they’re reaping the benefits. Congratulations, Sony!

Because I fully believe Nintendo will have numerous 20M+ sellers on the Switch. Also Nintendo rarely discounts their games while Sony relies heavily on discounts to reach those numbers.

Splatoon 2 will also sell 10M+ when all is said and done.

You're right on Splatoon 2, I forgot about that game. But are you telling me that Nintendo games that reach 10-20 millions sales do it without bundles or discounts?? That's not true.

What games do you think will reach 20M+ on Switch? I can only think Mario Kart. I don't think a 3D sandbox Mario or Zelda will reach it. I'm not as convinced as others with Smash or Pokemon neither....but thet probably will reach 15m sales or close, so not bad at all.

Unfortunately the greatest PS4 exclusive, Bloodborne, only sold around 3 million. I wonder if less casual games will ever become dominant.
