Forums - Sales Discussion - UK: Octopath Traveler charting at #3 (#1 in terms of revenue), doubling sales of Bravely Default

Octopath Traveler, Square Enix's unusually titled RPG for Nintendo Switch. It's actually a really good result for the game, as its sales are almost double that of Bravely Default (which is made by the same team back in December 2012) and more than double that game's sequel Bravely Second (release in 2016).

Here is the UKIE/GfK physical chart for the week ending July 14th:

(=^・ω・^=) Kuroneko S2 - Ore no Imouto - SteamMyAnimeList and Twitter - PSN: Gustavo_Valim - Switch FC: 6390-8693-0129 (=^・ω・^=)

Great numbers for Octopath Traveler and it's cool to see Captain Toad also doing well

Seems that the Switch is starting to find its legs in Europe. Great sales overall, with 5 of the top 10 games on the Switch. Impressive

Great news! This should continue for all the Western countries. While not soo much in Japan

If you count multi-plats there are 7 games in the top ten that appear on Switch.

That's incredible news! This shows that people want old-styled RPGs again and not the heavily cinematic RPGs of today.

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true

This is some super hyperbole.  It doesn't show that what so ever.

Maybe I should have reworded it a bit. They don't want ONLY  Heavy cinematic RPGs of today. I want more RPGs that depend on more Role-Playing and Gameplay than something that is hellbent on telling a story. Octopath Selling shows that there is a market for people like me.

Or both

No it does not. Not even kind of. If that was case, then Bravely Default would nit be having it sales be doubled by this game, and games like Xenoblade Chronicles 2 would have Bombed. Did either of those of those happen?
