And Bless her for the games she helped to make.

Awww :)

I vastly prefer single player experiances, so I hope they dont go anywhere.
Hopefully theres more of them to come from Amy & Sony.

Same here. Don't get me wrong I enjoy a good multiplayer game as well but nothing will top a single player experience for me.

Nah, I prefer multiplayer. Stories in games suck lately

I just don't get why all games must be open world and dozens of hours. The shorter and sweeter the better for me.

Isn't that what single player games are nowadays? Dozens of hours?

MP games nowadays consist of brief rounds that last minutes.

Most of the stuff she's worked on in the past has been exclusive to Sony, and has been very successful, so it's not much of a surprise that she is supporting the platform. Her hands are probably tied anyways and she's obligated to convey this opinion.

But in all honesty, I'm very happy for her and I wish her studio the best of luck.

Its just the tech.... open world is to games today what side scrolling platformers were to games back in the 80s. In truth open worlds has been exactly where games have been going since they staret making 3D levels.

I think calling them all "open world" is a recipe for disaster though, as there are different takes on. Like theer is open world and open linear. One is a sandbox(LOZ, GTA, Witcher, Elder scrolls, Horizon...etc) and the other is is just very big small sections that could very well be seen as levels (GoW, SoTC, Uncharted, Bloodborne....etc).

And in truth, only single player games are required to truly have dozens of hours of content, simply to prevent people from selling them the next day. The alternative is to have multiplayer in the game that keeps people playing for weeks. Can't you see how COD has a campaign thats only like 5-6hrs long?

Fine we get it. Sony is awesome for doing single player games. But must we keep on saying this again and again and again?

I totally agree. That was a time when I heard many saying that Sony/Microsoft was all about multiplayer while Nintendo was the only company concerned with providing high quality single player experiences. Not anymore, I guess.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

There were three ravens sat on a tree / They were as blacke as they might be / The one of them said to his mate, Where shall we our breakfast take?

And to those that took the SE survey, I just want say thank you for choosing single player.

Perhaps that is an indication of she coming back.

I'm in complete agreement!

If I can be perfectly honest for a moment here, I don't really care much for this trend toward gaming becoming increasingly a jockish professional sports type of scene that's all about competition and where games are built mainly for tournament play and such. I mean tournament play has always been part of video gaming culture and everything, but not like today. It feels like we're on a trajectory toward the whole gaming-as-sport component really taking over, and not just of PC gaming. Competitive multiplayer is the primary focus now not only of Microsoft, but also Nintendo. Sony, as a first-party publisher, offers a refreshing break from this larger trend that's going on that I really appreciate. Stay true to your heart, Sony! And yes, bring Amy on board!

Well we can say that in the beginning it was almost 100% competitive (arcades are about high scores after all), but since coming to console it wasn't a major portion as it is today.

For me 8-12h for a story mode (that perhaps I'll play 3-4 times) is a very good amount for a story SP game.

Wouldnt surprise me if her new studio ends up making something for Sony.

Perhaps Sony will make the same deal with Henning's new studio as Kojima's. Then give them acces to the Decima engine etc. And her studio will become basically a second party studio for Sony like Hallmarque, Insomniac and many others.

Could be (I don't think she would go back to ND) but they could also make a full studio that she could guide on the story part and maybe get another very high profile to direct (as far as I know her experience on Soul Reaver, TR, and ND games weren't directing)

Well Every gen Sony had major SP games. The place Nintendo still beats Sony hands down is local co-op/ coach 2 player.

Of course! If we say it enough, maybe other companies will listen and consider making big budget singleplayer games, lol :P

Yep companies listen to wallets =]

Err... that is what i don't want them to be.

Multiplayers aren't just a few minutes though. They usually have progression systems and end up being hundreads of hours.
