Forums - Sony Discussion - God Bless Sony For Supporting Singleplayer [Amy Hennig]

And she's not wrong:

To be fair, they didn’t actually say that. I think that, like everything in our world today, the bad versions get around the world before the truth can get its pants on. Did Churchill say that? I think so. It’s really tough. Shawn talked about that in relation to Sony. God bless Sony for supporting these kinds of games because they’re terrifying to make. They’re very expensive, and it doesn’t suit the model of having a massive open world or hours and hours of gameplay or running a live service, which is what everybody is shooting for these days.

The PS5 Exists.

And Bless her for the games she helped to make.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Awww :)

I vastly prefer single player experiances, so I hope they dont go anywhere.
Hopefully theres more of them to come from Amy & Sony.

Wouldnt surprise me if her new studio ends up making something for Sony.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

I'm in complete agreement!

If I can be perfectly honest for a moment here, I don't really care much for this trend toward gaming becoming increasingly a jockish professional sports type of scene that's all about competition and where games are built mainly for tournament play and such. I mean tournament play has always been part of video gaming culture and everything, but not like today. It feels like we're on a trajectory toward the whole gaming-as-sport component really taking over, and not just of PC gaming. Competitive multiplayer is the primary focus now not only of Microsoft, but also Nintendo. Sony, as a first-party publisher, offers a refreshing break from this larger trend that's going on that I really appreciate. Stay true to your heart, Sony! And yes, bring Amy on board!

I just don't get why all games must be open world and dozens of hours. The shorter and sweeter the better for me.

Perhaps Sony will make the same deal with Henning's new studio as Kojima's. Then give them acces to the Decima engine etc. And her studio will become basically a second party studio for Sony like Hallmarque, Insomniac and many others.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Most companies support singleplayer.
