Forums - General Discussion - New AI can infer homosexuality from photos of faces [91% accurate]

Psychographic software should be banned?

Yes 12 46.15%

No 14 53.85%

Total:26

I don't really understand why this is necessary technology, seems to me its only real use is to force people out of the closet. And what if it is wrong

Lol I just realized that if 10% of the population are gay, and the AI 100% of the time suggests that the pictures uploaded are straight then it would have a 90% accuracy rate.

Best AI ever.

If you have a group of 100 people with 10 gays in it and you just say everybody is straight, it would give 100% false statements for the gays.

AI would be correct 90% of the time though.

The AI isn't to tell if someone is Gay, if you read the OP it's "Artificial intelligence can accurately guess whether people are gay or straight based on photos of their faces"

It would be correct 90% of the time by saying that a large enough sample size was all Straight, it would just be wrong for each gay person.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

You do not construct statistical tests like that for the obvious reason. If you have the paper we can look what exactly they did. One way would be to test an equal number of straight and gays photos and see how often the test is accurate.

Yep, when you think about that conversely, it's actually pretty impressive. It means the AI can pick out those 10 people out of a hundred pretty accurately.

I guess this lends itself to the argument that being gay is something you're born with, because it seems to have recognizable physical characteristics of some kind associated with it.
I don't see why anyone would use this to discriminate against people. Well, maybe some religious communities.

What a scam. Nobody is born gay. At most the cumputer can recognized some typical facial gestures that some homosexuals are prone to use, such as a more feminine smile.
