So, even though it's a Free to Play, Pokemon Quest has reached the million downloads, so it gets added to the list. Though I won't add it to the final count, since it's not technically "sold".

Yeah... it really doesn't belong on a list of Million Sellers.

I wouldn't include it on the list you have either, because it isn't a million seller.

Some people like to count them alongside the rest, so just in case, I'll acknowledge it being downloaded 1m times, but it's not been sold, so it can't be taken into account into the final list.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

1.This isn't what the OP is asking.

2. What about smash, pokemon, animal crossing, or 2d Mario. I would be surprised if Metroid Prime 4 can reach 4 million units.

Oh shit you're right, I totally misconstrued the OP's post. Not sure why I thought this was about the Switch's sales this second year LOL.

As for your second point: I agree with a second Mario but I did not hear a second Mario game announced so to me MP4 is the only big gun left coming for sure and I don't see Smash, Pokemon or Animal Crossing as big guns. They are important games but I consider Mario/Metroid Prime/Zelda to be the biggest guns.

Smash and Pokemon are two of the most well known gaming franchises out there how are those not big guns? They for sure are better known then Metroid.

According to this article http://www.ign.com/articles/2018/06/13/e3-2018-fortnite-on-nintendo-switch-has-been-downloaded-2-million-times-in-its-first-day?abthid=5b2161932ac0c32036000143 , Fortnite has been downloaded on the Swith over 2m times. So, just like Pokemon Quest, it gets added to the list but as Free to Play, and won't be taken into account in the final million seller list.

I think its safe to say that at the very least Smash 5, Pokemon, Super Mario Party and Octopath Traveler will be million sellers.Other than that, I think that Starlick has a chance if it ends up being great, Crash also has a chance, and Overcooked 2 given the success of the first one on the Switch. Those are the ones that come to the top of my head now.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I can see hollow knight selling 1 million in the long run too

According to Nintendo, Mario Tennis Ace, Donkey Kong Tropical freeze and the combined sales of Nintendo Labo have passed the million mark, so they get added to the list.

I’ll be optimistic and guess 18. Skyrim, Yokai Watch 4, Smash, Kirby, Yoshi, FIFA, Wolfenstein II, DOOM, MARIO Tennis, Labo, Octopath Traveler, Animal Crossing, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Dark Souls Remastered and then maybe three or four more unannounced games.

Welp, I’m getting there. FIFA 18 and Skyrim are definitely there (920k and 930k, respectively, for physical only). Mario Tennis, Labo, Octopath Traveler, Kirby and DKC:TF are all already above 1M (or at least I’m assuming). I’ll probably miss DOOM, Wolfenstein II, Dark Souls Remastered, Animal Crossing and Yokai Watch 4 with my prediction, but all in all, I’m still sticking by 18.

By this point 10+ is a very safe bet I'd say

Mario Aces, Kirby, Labo and Tropical Freeze are confirmed to reach the million in both formats. Octopath is still quite far away from it, the last numbers we had were Japan only, and that was barely above 110k. Doom is still selling slowly, though it could reach the million eventually. If Youkai Watch and AC release this this year, they'll reach the million no doubt.

Now we can add Octopath Traveler!
