Only if they can shake the NSMB brand. It should probably stay 2.5D, but it needs another rebranding the way the original NSMB did. Maybe even a moderate shakeup in the formula. I agree with all of this, but NSMB2 actually outsold 3D Land by a bit though. It’s only 12.12m against 12.70m but still.

Ah, I went off VGChartz numbers, which showed 3D Land ahead by a similarly tiny amount. I wasn't aware of the official numbers. It's still too close for a normal 2D Mario sales performance.

Just a quick update: my 20m prediction had Zelda doing 3.9m this year, while so far it's at 3.6m with the full holiday quarter data to go. So, it will obviously end up this year with 5m or so, which is much higher than even my prediction.

Is 20m still looking "impossible"?



Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Not at all. Especially since 2019 there will be even more consoles sold than 2018.

Just imagine how much better the game would have sell if Nintendo would have offered the game in a bundle with the Switch.

Boy, did I miss the mark with this one! Combining the Wii U version, it's probably going to be around 15 million by the end of this month!
At the rate it's selling, it could do 20 million on the Switch alone!

Yep, there's a good chance of it being close to 14m by the end of this quarter.

I don't blame you for missing the mark tho, your prediction already had good numbers for it. To be honest, it's possible that even my "super bold prediction" lowballed it a bit. For example, I had it at 3.9m for this year, while its already at ~3.5m I think. It will easily blow my prediction for this year, and the same will probably happen next year too. O.o
