I still dislike the Switch and don't want one anytime soon, but bought three more games for it

what

Hoping for a redesign before getting one so in the meantime I'm buying some of the games that I would like to play on it. If it doesn't get a redesign that I like then I can always hope that the next console has BC.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle - First party. Nintendo is the owner of the Mario IP.

That's not how it works. It's a third party exclusive.

The chance that Ubisoft can port the game to a non-Nintendo platform is 0% and that's because of the first party IP that is in the game.

Just like any other IP collaboration between a console manufacturer and a third party, you can't call it a straight-up first party game nor a straight-up third party game. However, due to the involved factors it is clear that the game in question is effectively a first party title despite being published by a third party*, so it makes much more sense to count it towards first party games rather than third party games. Fire Emblem Warriors, Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition and Pokken Tournament DX are also first party titles for the same reason.

*All four games mentioned in the above paragraph are actually published either by Nintendo or the respective third party partner depending on region, so determining first party or third party on the basis of publishing cannot lead to a clear result.

That still isn't how it works. The games you mentionned have nothing in common with Mario+Rabbids. It's an Ubisoft game, from the whole Rayman VS Rabbids franchise. It's more like a game where the Switch version have exclusive content (like the hylian shield in Skyrim) than a nintendo game.

Ubisoft asked Nintendo if they can use Mario characters for their games, and was shown during the Ubisoft conference. It may soind stupid but having Mario in it doesn't make it a Nintendo title. Just like Smash bros.

You didn't understand why I mentioned Smash. Smash is a Nintendo game with characters from several third party developers. And Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle is a Rabbids/Ubisoft game with Nintendo characters in it. Nintendo has nothing to do with the development whatsoever, they just allowed Ubisoft to include Mario characters in it.

I bought Hyrule Warriors and another third party game, like I already mentioned in the other thread. Both physical.

I bought:

Morphies Law
Keroblaster

Both digital

I also bought:

Dead Cells
Flashback

Both physical.

Jumped on the Hollow Knight for $10 deal, so +1 digital 3rd party for me!

It would be better to wait until you know you're going to buy the system first, this way you wont essentially be wasting money on bricks over games you can play right away, plus you'll be able to get those games cheaper later.
