Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4/XBO/NS - 2017 vs. 2018: Final Results!!!

July 21st/Week 29 numbers have been added.

NOW the PS4 is officially down YoY by over 1 million units. And with Dragon Quest XI's release coming up on Week 30, that gap is only going to get much, much wider.

The Nintendo Switch is down this week, YoY, due to week 29 of last year being the release of Splatoon 2, boosting (at the time) supply constrained hardware exponentially, especially in Japan. However, hardware sales dipped the next 2 weeks, and if hardware sales continue to maintain at the 200k level, it should make up the ground in no time and continue to add to its lead.

Xbox One just continues to cruise and build its YoY lead.

Small error with huge effect: In the yearly switch total change, you put the console at -1.2M instead of +1.2M

Woops!

I’ll change that now. xD

Don't know if they have other values here, but the results for each console are different, might want to check if the weekly numbers are still up to date

I've managed to edit and adjust the PS4's numbers, however, the Xbox One and Switch numbers haven't been changed since the figures that are on the "Hardware to Date" page are the same as the ones posted here already. So, I really didn't have anything to edit.
Unless my math is off somewhere or adjustments on that page have yet to be made, the figures for those two systems should be on point.

Regardless, thank you for bringing this to my attention. You're my eyes and ears Boffer!

PS4 and Switch are the winners. XONE is the loser.

PS4 will sell less. Switch will sell more.

My apologies for the delay, my laptop has been unbelievably slow and I took it in on Friday to see what's wrong with it, so I've had to wait until I could come in to work today and use my Work Computer to update the list.

Week 30/July 28th numbers have been added!

Things are looking really good for Switch. It's to comfortably outsell 2017.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

So now, the Switch has officially passed the 6 million mark for this year.
Additionally, the Switch, at this point last year, had sold through ~37% of its 2017 total. Based on that percentage, it's 2018 end total, if it maintains a similar pace, would be a little above 16.4 million, which would be up YoY by ~3.3 million. A great total, but it wouldn't be enough to help Nintendo meet it's Fiscal Year goal of shipping 20 million.

Now, we've hit August, and week 31 numbers have been posted.
The Xbox One just passed 2.8 million for 2018 as it continues to slowly but surely build its lead.

The PS4's deficit now falls to over 1.4 million, while the Switch continues to build it's lead, now over 1.25 million.
