If they have no intention to consider building a wall they won't discuss it.

And if Trump walks into a room and says "hey are you going to give me the wall if I let the government start up again" he isn't discussing it either. How is he trying to start a discussion if all he does is make the same demand he's been making for weeks without any counter offer? "Hey, if I allow DACA recipients to stay permanently will you approve the wall funding" simple as that.

Why can't the Dems offer that or something else? It's their bill they want passed. When you bring an idea to your boss and they shoot it down, or say I would like this added to your plan, you don't blame them and tell them to figure it out themselves. You go back to the drawing board and come up with something else.

because they aren't bringing an idea to their boss. They would be able to reopen the government today if Mitch McConnell would actually put the bill forth with or without the President's signature. That's supposed to be the checks and balances of this thing. The president should not be able to unilaterally shut down the government even though congress has the support to pass it while bypassing his veto.

Then they need to come up with something instead of taking vacations and political field trips. That's their job. The boss ain't happy, and this isn't a boss who built his biz over the decades, he's the one most recently appointed by the people. If he says the people want a wall, which he campaigned on, then it's the Dems job now to figure it out. The Rep house couldn't do it for whatever reason, so it shouldn't be a big surprise the Dems can't easily either, especially considering you have rivalry in the mix now. That doesn't change the fact it needs to get done.

I believe you are missinformed.  Trump is not Congress boss.  They have equal stake in our government.  Next, the Dems do not Trust Trump.  We have been over this more than once.  Trump words is garbage.  They already tried to negotiate with Trump when they offered him 25 Billion for his wall but he let right wing media control him and his decision.  When he was going to sign the 1.6 Billion for the wall his administration asked for he backed out because right wing media had a hissy fit.  He has walked back multiple decisions when it doesn't please right wing media.  So why go down that road again and get played.

As always you guys totally just dismiss Trump behavior for 2 years and believe everyone else doesn't have a memory.  If he want his wall, his first step will be to stop holding the government hostage everytime he doesn't get his demand. We are on our 3rd shutdown, its time to move on from that game.   First get the government going them actually do a proper negotiation with bipartisan support.  Will he get everything he wants, probably not but then again its not like he is willing to give anything so we will see.

When you offer a deal and someone does not the it you'd expect them to make suggestions or bring their own deal. Democrats are doing non of this.

Can you find a source for this claim because I have seen multiple source state differently.

https://www.clickondetroit.com/news/politics/democrats-reopen-the-government-before-negotiations-on-border-security

https://kbzk.com/cnn-us-politics/2019/01/20/democrats-reiterate-demand-reopen-the-government-before-negotiations-on-border-security/

Out of all the people you use to support your claim, its the one person who has no reason to ever tell the Truth.  From the start, the Dems has stated they will not negotiate opening the government on the threat of Trump 5.6 Billion demand.  Nothing has changed and they continue to state the same thing.  They are rightfully tired of playing games where Trump believe he has leverage just because he demands it.  He had it very easy for a president for 2 years without having to even come close to making any deals with the Dems.  He could blame them for everything, demean them and have his way because the GOP had majority.  Now the party is over and he has to do his job but instead he is in this same bubble where he believe he demands something and people jump.  Well, we will see how the great negotiator actually negotiate because this will show what type of president he is.  If he continue to play the same game as he has before, his failure will be spectacular.  He can continue to listen to right wing media who have no skin in the game make decisions for him as he forgets America is more than just his constitutes.

When you are negotiating with someone and negotiations have broken down if you come back with the exact same fucking offer as every other time you've talked about it you cannot magically expect that they will change their response. This is not a failure on the other party, this is a failure on you to move the negotiations forward.

Because Trump did not offer a deal.  He waited until budget time to make a demand.  Then he told us all he would shut down the government if his demand was not met.  After that point, he put himself into a corner.  There were plenty of deals that crossed his desk.  Even Senator Lindsay Graham put the dreamer package to him and he turned it down.  They also put the deal where he could sign to reopen the government for a month and then hash out border security and he turned that down.  He turned down every deal because he thought he was winning.  Once the polls started to show him slipping support is when he decided he was ready to actually make a deal.  You people isn't even following all the events.  The Dems have no reason to Trust someone who isn't Trust worthy so why make any deals that can be easily overturned or reneged.

I wonder why the Reps are helping to hold things up? It's not because Trump is in charge, that's for sure. Power is distributed across the branches yes. They offered him 25 bil free and clear, no catch, and he denied it, but now only wants 5 bil? Sounds legit... I'm sure the media didn't accidentally forget to tell the entire story.

You really think when Trump put's the Gov and it's workers in 'such jeopardy', and the Dems still won't budge, even though they care so much about this particular issue, that if Trump backs off and re-opens operations, that the Dems will happily play nice? Give a Dem 25% and they'll start asking for 70%. Don't people remember and learn?

He was there so he is a reliable source. Mike Pence and other people who were there backed this up.

The negotiations are going both ways. The only one i see trying to negotiate is Trump. Democrats need to be willing to cut a deal put something forward so the government can re open.
