The "subscribe" change was mentioned here: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=9004232

And yes - in fact, I did answer you about the date thing - I've just got a full plate at the moment, but I'll get to it eventually. In the meantime, just accept the fact that the way the dates currently post now, make sense to those of us from the US - and the date format you propose to see, makes almost no sense to us...

Sorry Talon, but that subscribe change is a really bad news. Pretty stupid that I can't add a thread to my subscribed topics just because I started it and some people might point farm. I've already got some threads that I've started in my subscribed topics and it's really useful having them there so it's annoying not to ever be able to add any more.

I agree with this. I subscribe to my own official threads such as my Pokemon one so I can always quickly go back to it when ever big news drops to update the OP.

It would be much more of a hassle if I had to manually go looking for it myself each time, especially if it's no longer in the "recent" section of my buddy.

Probably necessary because I speak German. German has the strange trait that double-digit numbers from 21 onwards are basically read backwards.

42
forty-two
zweiundvierzig

Nobody says vierzigzwei. It's two and forty.

I haven't come across any other major languages that do it like German.

English can do it like that actually. Specifically old people and the number 25. They might say it as 5 and 20 instead. It's weird.

Exactly, languages with Germanic roots or even most Indo-Aryan have this too.
Dutch and Danish do it also, then there is Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi (maybe from the Brits?).

It's still unnatural because when you are writing a number you go from hundredth, tenth and unit values in order.
Germans just like to jump around at the end, keep you at your toes.

Ok. When a thread a member has posted in receives a new post or posts, from somebody else, the thread icon is colored orange, and has a white ! within it. This is accompanied by an indication of how many new posts have been made. So, right now, in the mod thread of all places, I cannot get rid of the orange icon, and it says there are 2 new posts, no matter how many times I've tried to go to those new posts. ALSO, if those post do indeed exist, I can't seem to see them, with the most recent one visible to me being Permalite's response to Rol, where he says to "smash the report button".

Dutch is almost a semi-major language.

The Hot Topics page shows who last posted in a thread, so the error here is that a spambot posted twice in the Moderator Thread and the anti-spam measures make the posts of a spambot invisible when the bot gets permabanned. Since the posts can't be viewed, the orange icon for unseen posts remains.

A simple circumvention to this problem should be to post in the thread yourself to make the most recent post in the thread one that isn't invisible, so the orange icon should go away.

Thank you.

Got a suggestion for games, now we've changed how Sales work perhaps we could have an All formats for combined sales, as very often when a multiplatform games sales are revealed it'll be all platforms combined, rather than getting figures for each individual platform. So unusable without an "All" section on the games page.

Also the Weekly hardware charts aren't viewable since software stopped being updated.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Wow - I was just about to ban you for the hell of it...    ...but then realized there are badges tied to bans now, and the guilt wouldn't allow me to do it - even in jest.

**sigh**

A victim of my own enhancements.

You could make an exception in the coding, so that joke bans dont count. Or make those damned badges for amount of bans, ill even provide icons for them

Probably this is way too far fetched of a suggestion, but it seems you guys made your own forums solution for this website (at least I haven't found any obvious traces of forums software I know of) and it shows sometimes (totally expected, though; a forum software is kind of a big thing). If so, have you considered switching to a largely supported forum software and then to extend the rest of the website from it?

Some BBS (that are free, even) support module extensions where you guys could make one and apply some of your custom user data (VGC supporter badge status, badges, my games, etc). I don't know the behind the doors of your website structure, but I pressume that the user module is the most complicated and the only one that would require an extension (given how it . All the other pages not intrinsicaly part of the forums should require no changes, unless they require users data.

To switch would require a lot of work, for you would need to migrate the database to the BBS', build the user extension module, rework the website indexation (if you want it to remain the same), remake the theme to be compatible with the BBS (maybe an opportunity to get a fresh face), tweak the non-forums pages that make use of forum data, check your own security patches (if you consider you still need them), tweak custom log processes (if you have any), etc. But then you wouldn't need to worry about forum maintenance anymore and you could easily update it if the BBS has any new version with new features, if you so wish. Easily change themes and templates (maybe even let users create their own and publish them, since the theme engines are secure and open source). For instance, I know that phpBB and MyBB can do all of that, altho I can only vouch for phpBB.

It would indeed be a time sink for a while, and I don't know if you guys have the man power, and you probably are already too comfortable with your own solution, but maybe give it some thought.

Cheers.

You just crossed the line - 1 ban
What? Again? - 2 bans
Please behave, please? - 5 bans
Thickheaded or just addicted? - 10 bans
Bad boi - 20 bans
How are you even still here? - 30 bans

Edit : benkenobi's banhammer has no effect - 50 bans
