I could see a new game coming out in the next 2 years since Switch will probably last long as hell. They have only 1 system after all. If there is another one it will need to be fresh so i think that would be a good thing. Maybe they will transition into Nintendo Kart

Considering that Kart 8 was both a first-year (launch window?) release, and really just a re-release of a Wii U game from 3 years prior, I think Kart 9 is a near-certainty.  2020 is my guess. Maybe 2021.
