I think FIFA 18 might be doing better digitally though, at least in Europe. It appears almost every month in the best seller's list and is likely to have a high percentage of sales relative to Skyrim which I can't remember seeing much on the top selling list after its launch.

FIFA is doing generally better in europe, also physical:

Japan and Europe favour FIFA over Skyrim quite a lot, which is surprising seeing how NA makes up for the difference by quite a lot, and puts Skyrim on top in the end. Digital sales must be a landslide in favour of FIFA, though, considering the amount of times it's been on sale there.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

So what's the verdict?

Edit: just saw it. Neck-and-neck but Skyrim slightly ahead.

Retail-wise, Skyrim is probably going to edge it out on retail in the end, especially if the sales continue like that until FIFA 19's release. The real problem are the digital sales. I'm pretty sure FIFA 18 grossly outsells Skyrim on the digital department: it has had more discounts, it's an online game and a it's much more casual offering that Skyrim. But unless their publisher decide to announce their immediate sales right now, I have no way of verifying either of them.

Whew, FIFA is gaining some steam back, will it overtake Skyrim and reach 1m first?

fifa 18 will, there is a big appetite in europe and elsewhere for this game every year.

skyrim, is owned everywhere else, i would be surprised. i know i am not interested, i have it on xb and pc already. and dont feel the desire to have it portable.

I still think Skyrim will sell more in the long run since Fifa 18 will have its legs cut short when Fifa 19 arrives and Skyrim is the type of game that keeps selling during the entire lifetime of the console, but the fight Fifa 18 is putting is pretty impressive. It even managed to sell more than the Xone version that week.

Pretty awesome that these games have been evergreen titles... Didn't think we would see this on a Nintendo system again. BTW, I bought both physical and both are great games.
