You're in the Australian region right? If so I'd like to get your Friend ID sometime soon. If you know anyone else from the Australia/NZ region that might be active in the game, that'd help too.

I appreciate the offer but I don't have Nintendo Switch Online and I haven't yet decided if I'll cave and get it for the game, might just play it solo and in local co-op with my brother. Cheers though. :)

Fair enough, just let me know if you change your mind.

Side note: Hunting Horn looks ridiculously cool now--

I may have to main this.

Will do, and yeah the hunting horn looks epic this time around, I never played it before but will definitely trying it out in Rise, same with the Insect Glaive, Bowgun, Bow, and Charge Blade.

I'm going to buy 3D World, but I'm not happy about it.

I'm really not happy when ports add something major that is not accessible to owners of the original version. Feels like a fuck you to people who bought the original. It's not like I expect them to release Bowser's Fury for the Wii U, or Xenoblade Chronicles' epilogue for the Wii, but it would be nice if I had the option to buy just that extra content like I can do with Torna.

Eh, I get where you're coming from, but can't really agree. If they are going to re-release something they should add value to it. Nintendo did a good job of that with this game, between various tweaks and adding new content. The WiiU is sold terribly and is dead at this point so offering Bowser's Fury as DLC doesn't make good sense financially. It would be a waste of resources on a version that only a handful of people would buy.

I'm not suggesting that they release it on the Wii U, I'm saying they should release it as a standalone product on the Switch.

In the end Bowser's Fury will remain an ambitious side project, it probably doesn't have the full attention of the main EPD studio producing the games since my guess is tha they're actually working on the next mainline 3D(or 2D) game.

It'll probably be a short mode totalling a couple of hours so they could've never intended it to be a standalone release unless this had been the main project of the EPD.

Whatever it is, why couldn't they sell it on its own on the Switch for a reasonable price, so that those who already played 3D World don't have to repurchase that if they don't find the changes to the main game worth it?

Because they've set no precedent of doing so with their main IP's.

And yes, I know there's Xenoblade 2 Torna and Captain Toad but these are not amongst their most prolific IP's.

Now, do I disagree with what your suggesting ? No, but it arguably doesn't make sense from Nintendo's POV.

I perfectly understand why Nintendo would do this. It's pro-profit and anti-consumer. Since I'm a consumer, and not a stockholder, I am annoyed. Not like I'm going to boycott Nintendo, but it's an anti-consumer practice, and complaining about it on an internet forum feels like a proportionate response.

Anyway... not going to respond to this issue anymore. I said what I feel, and don't want to be a drag for people who are excited. For those who haven't played 3D World, you're in for a treat. Personally, I enjoyed it more than Odyssey even in its Wii U form. I really hope hope Nintendo keeps the 3dland/world going as a kind of "third pillar" of the Mario platform franchise. Although, considering Mario Maker is also its sort of thing, that could lead to oversaturation.

According to datamining, 3D World + Bowser's Fury's final build is dated 25th of November 2020, so they've had it ready to go for two and a half months.

Makes sense. There's probably a few steps after the final build before the game goes gold, and from there it generally takes a month to get it to retailers. So, the timeframe is about right. Maybe they could have gotten it out a bit earlier, but they probably wanted to give the Switch a little shot in the arm once the holiday bump begins to die down a bit.
