Finally, an announcement of a new game I'd actually play. Now just gimme a release date for Doom Eternal dammit, and I'll consider 2020 redeemed.

Heck, if Immortals: Fenyx Rising indeed arrives on the 3rd of December, this could go from being one of the most barren years ever for me, to having so many games coming out in the last few months I won't have time to play them all, lulz.

Who knew it would only take one new game, a late port and a mediocre Ubisoft game to turn around 2020 from the worst thing in human existence to just pretty good.

Doom Eternal's still quite recent and the sequel to one of the best games of the last decade, and we it's too early to conclude that Immortals is mediocre when the haven't seen gameplay yet. It's still a weak year, but at least now after months of suckage it might end on a positive note.

Age of Calamity looks pretty damn cool, I like how it will shed light on parts of Breath of the Wild that really didn't get enough attention. Maybe it won't focus on anything that needed to be told necessarily, but it will hopefully at least make the champions more interesting. Plus, it's a surprisingly brilliant fit of gameplay and story, which isn't something that I think is considered very often with spin-offs. It's usually not important to connect the theme with the gameplay because they are already separated from the main stories of the series in question but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

With the Mario Collection and Hyrule Warriors 2, Nintendo's 2020 lineup jumped from lackluster to pretty decent. This announcement really came out of nowhere since it wasn't leaked at all, which is an impressive feat on its own

It is surprising they were able to keep both Age of Calamity and Mario Kart Live almost entirely under wraps in this day and age. I do kinda wish they'd revealed them sooner, but at least the cat's out of the bag now and we have a clear first party lineup for the next five months.

Now I just need a third party schedule haha

This can't be anything other than good; now Bayonetta 3 will have actual competition in the action category next year

I'm not even sure Bayonetta 3 even exists at this point, maybe it was all an elaborate prank or just a shared dream/hallucination we all had.

Anyway, hopefully the NMH3 delay isn't a big one and we see it in the first half of 2021. It'd be also nice to get a goddamn gameplay trailer without suda's head blocking it from view. XD

So my most played Switch games this year are

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition (at 60+ hours or more, making it my #6th most played Switch game)

Okami HD (50+ hours or more, though you could probably detract about 10 from those given previous tries to beat the game)

Animal Crossing: New Horizons (at 35+ hours or more)

Final Fantasy VII (at 35+ hours or more)

Final Fantasy VIII (at 25+ hours or more)

Hollow Knight (at 25+ hours or more)

Link's Awakening (at 25+ hours or more)

...And once I finish them, I expect the Ace Attorney Trilogy, Mega Man Legacy Collection (already beat 1 + 2), Wonderful 101 Remastered, and the Castlevania Anniversary Collection to be in the 15+ hours tier. Also the Pikmin 3 Deluxe and 3D All-Stars Mario Collection once those games come out. At the same time, I also expect Paper Mario: Origami King and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity (assuming I get to that this year) to make it in that tier.

Just thought that was interesting given the discussion on this site about new games to play versus the Switch having enough games already for any first party shortages. I think I'm relatively pretty happy with that split, even if some of those original titles like Hollow Knight released a while ago, all the new games are pretty great and the remasters available consist of pretty iconic titles. Most importantly, they're all games I'd want to play whether this was a weak year or not (not something I can really say about some of the backlog titles I still own ... like Golf Story to be honest). I think 1 relatively new-ish remake, 1 very good remaster (worse OST notwithstanding) with an optional epilogue campaign attached to it, a life simulator that depending on the person could end up being quite the time sink, and a new Paper Mario and Hyrule Warriors, is a pretty decent hall, even if the newness of remakes/remaster-overhauls is up for debate.

I'm not trying to start up a toxic discussion or anything, just thought it was interesting to note my personal gaming pattern. But yea, when you include remasters it's actually been a fairly busy year for me on the Switch. Hollow Knight and Xenoblade definitely being the highlight thus far.

Nice to hear. I still need to pick the game and had some questions about the DLC availability.
