It isn't rocket science, really.

There are roughly 30% more X1s around now than a year ago.

If hours alive is only up by less than half of that, it shows what is really happening. One thing is a lot more X360 owners have left the market than new X1 owners have appeared. Would be interesting to see a comparison between X360/X1 aligned sales in the past few months to see how X1 sales are falling off a cliff (compared to X360 sales). Constantly reminding everyone everywhere everytime how great the Scorpio will be doesn't help here, either.

The linked article states that it's speculated to be around one million. More than 500k is for the first week alone.

The linked article is using VGChartz numbers throughout the article. So I wouldn't read into it too much.

Obviously Microsoft isn't doing bad, they're a multibillion dollar company, but that PR statement was pathetic.

Answering questions like these is always kinda hard due to the Holidays and all the deals then. If Scorpio's price is good with some good bundles I could see them taking one of the Holiday months.

i think there is almost a zero percent chance that it wont win another NPD again. while XB1 hasnt won a lot of NPD's compared to the PS4. it still managed to win quite a few and should be able to win more.

I think it has at least one good shot with Scorpio.  I fully expect Scorpio to be a minority subset product, borderline niche, as the Pro is looking like but worse.  However, early adopters will adopt early, it will have a launch rush.  But Xbox is in danger of becoming the third wheel here.

I see. The first time I didn't read the article all the way to the end because of that Microsoft PR statement. But the last paragraph clearly references VGC numbers, so that must be where the "confirmation" for more than 500k in the first week for Switch came from.

But VGC has Switch below 500k. They're taking Reggie's statement (Fastest selling Nintendo console in 9 days), and rounding up by quite a bit. Unless they're looking only at front page numbers which is "North America".

I'll be honest, I think that article is all speculation and nothing official.



Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

For reference. First month sales should be relatively close, 2nd month Switch will probably drop hard compared to PS4 and XBO in december.
