What exactly is mature and grown up about Horizon, lol? Oh and the games play nothing alike... You do realize that in Japan they don't view animation as childish, right? The highest grossing movie in Japan is Spirited Away, the third highest is Frozen, the fourth highest is Your name, the sixth highest is Howl's Moving Castle, the sevent highest is Princess Mononoke and the 11th highest is Ponyo.

Everything about Horizon looks to be more mature than Zelda. Just like how NIN made that realistic looking Zelda with the spider years ago for GC or Wii, that they never followed through with. How do they not play alike? Quests and side quests (dungeons), foraging for materials (food), theres many similarities. Maybe in Japan they feel Zelda is more mature than Horizon, but worldwide I think most would see things the other way.

You should just let Horizon live and die on its own merits, why try and compare it to BoTW when most of the early previews say that the game reminds them of Far Cry, Assassin's Creed, The Witcher or Tomb Raider.

It certainly isn't mature.

It's an adult game. Consider yourself the autority on maturity all you want, but this doesn't change that Zelda compared to GTA is like Disney compared to Scarface.

Horizon looks to be more adult in its theme, presentation, and by the way it grounds its world in realism. Zelda has always been more like a faity tale kind of thing, and has barely ever pushed adult/mature themes, be it through its presentation, execution, storytelling, psychology of its characters, etc. Zelda games are made to be accessible for the entire family, and the end result has always reflected that.

In no way does Zelda not being an adult/mature game equals to it being an inferior experience. So I suggest you leave the defensive behaviour behind.

I think people are definitely getting their labels wrong, because nothing I've seen of Horizon paints it as a more mature and a realistic game! It has a very different visual aesthetic yes, but chasing and killing robo-dinos doesn't mean realistic. Horizon has a weather system but it has no effect on gameplay situations,  yet BoTW has a very interactive world where the physics govern gameplay in a realistic manner and where the weather system will effect gameplay decision as they would in real life!

It's not a knock at Horizon but Nintendo is going for a completely different experience than what Guerrilla Games is for their title.

Adult content is not the same as mature. GTA is a game that excited me as a little kid, now not so much... Do you honestly think robot dinosaurs are a mature theme? Have you ever played Majora's Mask? If you visit the Swordsman in the final hour of the game, for example, you'll see him cowering in fear in a secret backroom. Or the Ganondorf execution cutscene in Twilight Princess. Or the segment where Midna is dying and you have to save her, the accompying music creates a powerful emotional setting.

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes has a Teen rating, but I would consider it a much darker and deeper experience than any GTA game I've played. And certainly a lot more mature.

Fairy tales are infamous for their dark and twisted stories by the way... Just saying.

No...mate. Not at all lol, maybe the new trend in films is to the "darker side" but even still. No. And again NOT AT ALL, LOL. :D

You might want to actually read up about the stories Disney based their movies on. ;)

Then come back and tell me they're not dark or disturbing. Start with Sleeping Beauty.

Fairy Tales

Google:

children's story about magical and imaginary beings and lands.
denoting something regarded as resembling a fairy story in being magical, idealized, or extremely happy.

Merriam Webster:

A story (as for children) involving fantastic forces and beings (as fairies, wizards, and goblins) fairy tale {lrquo}The Little Mermaid”> —called also fairy story

Cambridge Dictionary:

traditional story written for children that usually involves imaginary creaturesand magic

This definition fits for every Zelda games. It doesn't apply to what people here refer to as "mature" game.

Now, let me ask you why are you here in a topic about Horizon? Seems like you're just here to derail the thread and fish for an argument over [seriously] nothing.

Wonderful!!!

There are different types of fairy tales. The brothers Grimm tales are dark and very adult. The Arabian nights and almost every fairy tale in it talks of murder, rape,  slavery etc. The whole story behind the two Kings that begins the Arabian nights has a very mature adult theme and goes into martial affairs, slavery etc.

Disney has turned fairy tales into child friendly stories, but the source material is anything but child friendly most of the times.

I saw a video of a cinematic sequence of this game. It had woerd head movement and lip synchronization. Honestly it was worse then XCX which I loved. But this game honestly creeper me out with the weird head movements and voices

Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

No, It is not nor is this a simple shooter and no this would not work well with mouse and keyboard...at all! It is a game made for consoles by people who make games for consoles. I could say it is a crime that there are no 4x games nor many of the RTS games but I would not want to play them anywhere else than my laptop anyhow.

You seem to be just out to start an argument with PS4 user but I am not going to bite the hook hidden in your bait. I will say this however, if you are salty that a game can, look better, run just as smooth and have a great source of funding and support as to make the game looks better than anything else (viewed at a reasonabe distance from the screen) on PC on hardware that you put double or triple that cost and while newer games will gradually get worse performance unless you put in more money on upgrades while newer games on the ps4 will gradually get better and better looking.

Keep obsessing about numbers, graphics settings and fps while the rest of us enjoy better looking games on our 400 ps4 pro.

This has nothing to do with PS4, it's a problem concerning all consoles. There is simply zero choice. No choice in peripherals, not even something as simple as being able to decide between framerate and useless graphic shine.

Those are the only two simple things I would like to have. But even that tiny bit of choice is not allowed on consoles. That's what makes it bad. Exclusivity is bad, no choices are an inherently bad thing for everyone.

There is no such thing as "a console game" or "a pc game". That line is only separated by the peripherals used. There is nothing that forbids developers to to offer choices, they do it for PC after all. It all comes down to how extremely restricted consoles are. Why are they so restricted? Because it makes it easier/cheaper for platform owners and developers. And they do all this on the back of the consumer since no choice is always a detriment.

I am very salty in this particular instance because the game looks really fun but I will not be able to enjoy it because it doesn't even give me the bare minimum of choice. It is a fast paced action game that requires precise and fast aiming. I will certainly not enjoy this on a controller and certainly not at 30fps. Much like I couldn't get past Bayonetta 2 because a fast paced game that drops below 30fps constantly is simply not enjoyable.

It's great that you can live with being forced to play in a very restricted environment, that doesn't make it ok or even laudable. Try to imagine that you are forced to play this game with a guitar hero controller at 5 fps. That's how it is for people like me. I doubt you would be able to enjoy the game no matter how pretty it is.

Lol what are you talking about man? The game is made by a Sony owned studio. So yes, of course, it will be exclusive to the ps4. I get that you prefer pc gaming but you have to admit that there are advantages to playing on a console too. One of them is that developers can squeeze everything out of these $400 consoles and make them look the best way possible while aiming for a locked 30fps. That is why games like this can look better than anything I've played on PC, no matter if it's running at 120fps and in 4k resolution.
