BR is winning becuase they are underpricing HD movies. There is no other reason. If HD drops their price down then it will be no contest (I think) given how many more 360s there are vs PS3 in the hands of consumers and how much cheaper HD drives are. Why HD isnt dropping prices to match BR is beyond me. Maybe they are arrogant and think that they already won because of player market share.

 What I really want to see is a the numbers between HD/BR vs normal DVD movie sales. There will be no change if the numbers are overwhelmingly in favor of the old format. Imho I dont think either format is going to win and normal DVD will stay with us for a long time. I think the real next format will probably be a minidisc (that would win me over) of type either HD or BR or maybe even download on demand via internet. I know folks who already moved over to downloads a while back but I know some who still like to have a hard copy (although with what RIAA is trying to do, hardcopies will be worthless).

Well in Japan Blu-Ray already once the HD War so technically speaking, HD-DVD lost.

While HD is in its infancy, the key is going to be convincing the major studios to support the platform. While much of the current lead is most likely attributable to Sony products, what it does is shows other studios there is potential. Porn is unlikely to be the deciding factor in who wins, though it may play a big role. While Internet porn is growing, though, videos are still the money maker.

No difference... 360 doesn't come standard with HD Drives. To buy the add-on, it is more expensive than a PS3, which many gamers are already complaining about the high cost.

The reason bluray will not win is because bluray fans don't buy the amount of movies as the hddvd fans do. Hddvd owners have an average of 30+ movies compared to bluray 10+ movies, also sales of actual hddvd  players outsell bluray players 3 to 1 in America. Sony forced millions of gamers into bluray with the PS3 and they buy more games than movies that is why they only have around 55% of the hd market. People that have hddvd players are movie buffs and bought hddvd because it offers the same audio & video capabilities of bluray at about half the price. The only advantage the bluray technology has is that it holds 50gb to hddvd 30gb. Within a year hddvd will have a disk that holds 51gb so they will be more or less equal except in price where hddvd is the clear winner. I'm sure bluray will come out with a new disk that holds more but really why would you need more than 50gb for a movie. People that have or want a PS3 need to stop posting on the hd format war because they don't really know what they are talking about they just want to say Sony is winning at something.

I really think there won't be any disc that will be number 1. I think services like AppleTV in a few years will offer HD movie downloads (about 20 gigs) because every year the internets bandwidth expands.

Lol at the backlash. My I've never seen so many so violently defend their beloved Sony and Blu-Ray.

Fact of the matter is, Blu-Ray and HD-DVD neither have enough market saturation to even force either into victory or defeat.

Online sales still affect the formats I'm afraid and a format that doesn't support a major demographic is still affected, its simple logic. The Adult film industry is not something to be swept to the side no matter how much you want to tell yourselves that.

Again, HD-DVD is superior as a transition format so I'm hoping for that to win against all odds. Pity all the PS3 fans are forced to rallying behind Blu-Ray now that the PS3 has been shown to be a failure. Sigh...

So many so threatened by the idea that their beloved Blu-RAy wouldn't succeed, lol. Its as if someone suggesting it might make it true, I guess this is what happens when you let any group of individuals go too long with a reality check.
