A quick update on the development of Sunset Overdrive 2:

It is still not in development.

Hunting Season is done...

They said some time ago that they had no plans. Probably no one want to pay the development of the sequel.

But looking at their track record, would it REALLY suck for XBOX and PC users? They wouldn't exactly be losing anything since they never actually got anything noteworthy.

Not a single game they've released on anything other than a PlayStation console has found any sort of success, both Sunset Overdrive and especially FUSE were undeniable flops.

Some of us want want to see a sequel, and I myself would like to play the first one on PC.

I don't see how because they didn't hit a home run elsewhere, that they should be locked to Sony forever and ignore everyone else.

Also FUSE was on PS3 as well as 360.

At the same time, is it not kind of a myth that Insomniac games is a super extremely popular developer? They are definitely popular, but their franchises carry sales weight because of consistency of sales rather than individual sales. Spyro sold a lot with each individual game but even the best selling Spyro was bellow the worst selling mainline Crash game, and when the switch to the PS2 happened Ratchet did not sell as well as Spyro despite the two franchises overall selling about the same by 2007 just before the launch of the PS3 game (Ratchet required two more games than Spyro to match). When the PS3 released, their two "openers" (Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction and Resistance: Fall of Man) did very well because the system needed some good exclusives to kickstart the consoles dormant first few years, but already by 2008 cracks were starting to show. From 2008 to the end of the PS3's lifespan, Insomniac had only sold 7.91 million pieces of software physically compared to the 6.94 million they sold just with their first two entries on PS3.  That's comparing the sales of just 2 games in the span of one year between releases, to seven games with a five year span between releases.

Definitely not trying to discredit Insomniac, they are a popular developer, and they've earned their success. At the same time if you look at the PS2 and PS3 era, they are somewhat niche. Ratchet and Clank PS4 did very well and became their most successful game (can't remember if that was by profit or by sales) but that's pretty normal for the PS4 by now, and Spider-Man is great but any developer would have gained more popularity from developing a Sony exclusive Spider-Man game.

I just don't think their image is as tied to Playstation as people think it is, I mean a majority of their image is tied to the platform but for the most part it's really mostly hardcore gamers who think that way. And yes, it would be cool to see what they could do with Nintendo : P

Great, I wrote a big long reply, clicked submit, then the page failed to load, so now it's all gone... let's see if I can remember it and fit it into a TL;DR, lol.

First: I know FUSE is on PS3 too, never said it wasn't, lol. Then there was something about non-Playstation owners don't really have anything to miss, since the "big" games Insomniac are known for are already Playstation exclusive anyway. I'd understand these owners being upset if, say, the Ratchet, Resistance and/or Spider-Man game(s) were on XBO/PC AND THEN Insomniac decided to go Sony exclusive, since they'd actually have worthwhile franchises that are worth missing... but I can't see any XBOX owners mourning the loss of a potential FUSE sequel, lol.

On that note (This is new now), I'd like to see Insomniac work with Nintendo too, just to say they've worked with the big three, lol :P

I know you never said it wasn't , but it being on 360 never meant that it hurt the game itself, it was just a badly made one.

The thing is, is that going off by what you're saying, it sounds like there is 110% zero chances of Insomniac ever, ever making a good game that isn't held as Sony exclusive. I for one do not believe that and to base it all on chances (because we've yet to see their track record outside of Sony in full swing, because they have made more for Sony than anyone else and that means their track record outside of Sony is as of this time of writing, not in full swing) of a good game not happening outside of Sony to being just a tad absurd.

The thing is, R&C and Spiderman were already exclusive, we know this, but SO isn't exclusive to Sony, so having 2 suddenly go exclusive to Sony would just mean that other players on Xbox would be denied a proper sequel and PC players being denied both games. I'd rather see someone fund them that isn't Sony, so that a sequel can be played across multiple platforms (I know one user on here thinks that's my ultimate ruse excuse, but I am legit sincere about that desire).

They could work with Nintendo, but I'd honestly like to see what they can do with PC, PS4 and X1 than another console exclusive. I actually want to play an Insomniac game on my PC for once

Not doing the streaming thing, sorry.

I also prefer to pay for the game, download and running it from my drives as well.

You need to keep up with the news, they're letting you download them now. But beggars can't be choosers.

That's a question... since Sony are now letting people download games from Playstation Now, how will it work for people using it on PC? o.O I'm assuming games can only be downloaded to PS4 consoles and not PC, but would be cool if that were a thing too.

I imagine that being the case, otherwise they'd list PC specs if it actually required PC hardware to run them. Also if I recall, PSnow requires a sub does it not?.
