Damn, how can some of you easily say to ditch Mario?

Mario is basically the face of Nintendo. Remove him and you spelled out the end.

Stop making so many mario games? Sure. Put it in the grave? No no no no no.

No.

I agree. I think they need to just retain the core 3D Mario's and Paper Mario series but put everything else on ice. The fact so many people want Mario gone is likely dawning on Nintendo as they used to assume it would outright save their consoles. Not anymore. I think the New Mario series has done immense brand damage to the series as a whole, even if the games aren't so bad. The Yoshi Spinoffs as well. Especially the DS and 3DS ones.

I love the New Super Mario Bros games though...I just finished the Wii U version ;D

People seriously hate it though. I don't know why though. Only old mario game I like more than it is Super Mario Bros 3(favorite mario game)

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Yo, the casuals LOOOVE that 2D Mario. I think the only brand damage it has done is to hardcores who think they are all the same. My little cousins think NSMB2 is gospel. 2!!!

Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda!!!!

1. Cancel Wii U Zelda and focus resources on the NX version.
2. Invest in as much exclusive and timed exclusive content as possible.
3. NX is all but confirmed to be a multi-hardware-form platform. Make sure that there is a form which outdoes Xbox and Playstation platforms.
4. Run an aggressive and disruptive campaign against Playstation, force them out of competition in the same way Apple and Samsung forced them out of mobile. Sony fans care mostly about graphics and hardware power, all ads should be directed at making Playstation feel inadequate to their owners.
5. Explore new and lucrative market niches, because the traditional console industry is on the decline as is. Nintendo is probably the only company capable of freshening it up again.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

1. Cancel Zelda NX port inmediately. The Wii U deserves an exclusive Zelda like every other Nintendo console before it.
2. Move away from most existing Nintendo IP. Keep Mario, Zelda and Pokemon, axe the rest.
3. Since it is too late to make last-minute changes on NX, invest heavily on the NX successor, which will compete directly with the PS6. It should be a traditional console with a controller identical to the Wii U Pro Controller. Add all standard online features and develop a custom OS that is actually competitive. And get feedback from third parties while developing it.
4. Have Platinum Games develop a clone of God of War, complete with realistic gore, have Retro Studios develop an Uncharted clone, buy Shin'en and have them develop a racing simulator. Make sure at least one of those titles is on launch date for the NX successor.
5. Reduce royalties to what Microsoft and Sony are charging, or even lower than that.

What about NX itself? What would be your plans regardless what it will be? It would be such a waste just thinking about the successor. Why not invest a little more on NX's concept? As of now, we're don't know jack about NX (outside of rumors) and to shove to the side does no good, especially when Iwata and Co. were planning something with it along w/mobile and the other projects they're doing.

1) Have a normal controller this time around. No gimmick, no $120US built in cost.

2) No custom hardware components, have the architecture based around x86 for easy ports and easy development.

3) Have a robust online network

4) Have Retro studios focus solely on an evolutionary first-person Metroid game

5) Have a true 3D Mario(based on exploration/platforming) game on launch. More akin to Mario 64 than 3D World.

6) A true Pokemon RPG on the console. Handheld sales are tanking and Nintendo's home consoles are falling into irrelevance. Bite the bullet and give the people what they want.

7) F Zero NX to fill the void between Mario Kart NX. Get Sega to co-develop it just like the GCN version.

8) A 3D Donkey Kong game to fill the drought inbetween 3D Mario games

9) Less 2D games!! The majority of gamers aren't interested in 2D games anymore. Focus the studio's talents on 3D games.

10) More Splatoon.

11) More splitscreen multiplayer

12) Mario Maker 3d(think Super Mario 64 style). EPIC.

13) Region free consoles.

14) Have Square produce a turn-based RPG(like Kingdom Hearts) using Nintendo IP.

That's all I got for now.

Good luck doing that to Sony when they are this generation's market leader. No one is forcing anyone out of business, let alone Nintendo forcing Sony out of the console game. Mobile was different story as Sony was never market leader.

The problem with NX itself is that it is released too early, and will likely be underspecced and rely on a gimmick. I wouldn't count on it being successful.
