DS: 450K Wii: 300K PS2: 250K PSP: 200K 360: 270K PS3: 95K



 

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Here's my prediction (expanded): DS > Wii > PSP* > PS2 > 360 > GBA > PS3

*price cut should push it up a bit.

 I don't think there is a general reason behind it. It will probably be more a decision of the single devolpers, than of the game department.  You can only demand  the full price in the first year. After this the game will sell only for lower prices (e.g. less profit). So it is not very attractive to publish a game on plattforms with only few users.

In my opinion one of the main reasons for the push back is the less than satisfing user base. They simply want to wait till there are more PS-3 owner, so that their title makes more money.

Following closely behind was the DS, with 34,900 systems sold. The rest of the hardware field lagged significantly behind, with the PlayStation 2 (18,000), Xbox 360 (12,800), and PlayStation Portable (12,100) rounding out the top five. The PlayStation 3 delivered 7,200 sales, edged out by the Game Boy Advance and its 7,900 units sold. Nintendo also fared well on the game charts, delivering the top four best-selling games of the month with Pokemon Diamond, Pokemon Pearl, Wii Play, and Super Paper Mario, in that order. While Diamond and Pearl for the DS are fundamentally the same game, consumers expressed a preference for the latter, as it outsold its counterpart 48,000 to 37,200 for the month. Sony's God of War II for the PlayStation 2 broke Nintendo's run on the charts with a fifth place finish and 11,600 copies sold. "

Wow.  Wii sold PS2, PS3 and X360 numbers combined + 4,100...

 And it outsold the DS??
