good thread. have you noticed Wii shipments are greater than usually ?

great thread, keep it going! The only question is how I could have missed it before Something that would be fun too read is if you see some games that sell much more than the avarage game. and again thanks for the updates!

I think it'd be difficult to maintain a reasonable assumption just based on Toys R Us sales. When I think of major Wii sellers, Toys R Us is one of the primary places, as their sales focus to smaller children, whereas gamestop, WalMart, ect most likely sell to more general audiences. However, its interesting to see how things DO sell at Toys R Us. Keep us posted!

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Great thread!

I have a question: Could you tell us something about demographics? (especially us europeans who don't know where the americans buy their consoles) I mean, who are the usual customers in your store, are there significant differences between wii/ds buyers and ps3/psp/x360 buyers and did the wii buyers own a console before? It would be great if you could tell us something about that!

Some ,even most ,of the people that work in those stores (specially gamestop ) are rabid fanboys wanting to spread their beloved console . I dont know if this is the case ,but it could be very well .In any case ,if you dont sell any X360 or PS3 and those consoles are sold at least 1 to 4 or 1/2 respectively to the Wii but you sell 20 and 30 Wiis a week I would say your store isnt representative at all .

Well looking at that he actuly pointed out that a child came back and wanted a game that played as his PS2 I clearly think that he must be a N-fanboy. Yes thats it he is showing the greatness of the Wiimote by pointing that out.

Any evidence of an increase in production?  (Frequency of shipments and/or quatity in each shipment) for the wii?

No, no evidence of an increase in production yet for me -- however, since Toys R Us already recieved larger shipments than most companies, I had doubts that we'd be the one seeing the bright side of larger shipments. We get a nice shipment every two weeks, while the Gamestop across the street has literally gone over a month without recieving a single Wii before.  They said they sell about 1 PS3 and Xbox360 a week like we do, but if you're selling 0 Wiis, that can strongly affect the sales ratios.

A child came in yesterday and was dissappointed in his PS3: he said he could have gotten an Xbox360 and Wii for Christmas but chose the PS3 instead. He wished he'd chose the other way, or so it appeared.

On the flipside, a child came in (I believe this was last Friday, not Sunday, but whatever) and said that he wanted to get the Xbox360 version of SpiderMan 3 because the graphics were better than the Wii version. He owned a Wii, but not an Xbox360. He was about 13 or 14.

If you look at my first post, I actually specifically stated that Toys R Us stores (in general) recieve more Wii shipments than most others stores, and I gave the example of Gamestop. Because we recieve more Wiis in -- approximately 35 or so every 2 weeks, instead of 8-10 a month, as many stores get -- our ratio of sales is higher. Or, put differently: everyone sells out of Wiis right now. The only difference is that we "sell out" of 30-35, and other stores "sell out" of 8-10.

I'm really trying my best to be as objective as possible here, Diomedes. I've reported the facts and observations at my store as best I can.
