This was pre-Wario. Super Mario Land 1. Mario goes to a exotically themed castle (say, Egyptian based), defeats a Monster (say, a Sphynx) and runs into Daisy:

Daisy: Thank you Mario!

Mario: Oh, Daisy!

(Daisy turns into a monster)

You don't get to the actual Daisy until the final castle (Airship! Whoot!). But hey, I guess that sequence beats "Thank you Mario, but our Princess is in another castle," right?

So does Mario now have to save two chicks?! Poor guy. How does he still have time to appear in so many games? Can't Mario save Peach and Luigi save Daisy to ease Mario's workload?

I, for one, find Daisy's voiceovers to be hysterical. Epecially in Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games. I forgot about Pauline until Rol brought her up. Luigi needs to start saving Daisy or something. Luigi needs one game on every console. Luigi's Mansions was cool. I don't care what anyone says. What was I talking about?

Nah, Daisy is a little more self-reliant than Peach. She only needed to be saved that one time, as opposed to the time after time after time that Peach needed saving.

Mario traveled the world on his vacation, found a chick needing saving, and she decided from there on in it would be fun to visit Mario occasionally and play some sports. She also loves a party and often shows up for those. That's the extent of Daisy's story. Not a big fan of Mario's kart racing obsession though.

There needs to be a remake of Super Mario Land, that way kids will stop saying that Daisy is just "Luigi's Girlfriend." I like her a little more than Peach but that's probably in part to her lack of the cliche getting kidnapped and saved by Mario.

Pixel Art can be fun.
