A teacher calling a student that is beyond reprehensible. He should be fired immediately.

That isn't close to the same thing. You need to get a clue. If you want to draw a more accurate analogy here is is one. Often in child molestation cases one parent knows the other parent is molesting their child but does nothing to stop it. The parent that does nothing is worse than the parent that is doing the molesting because they know its wrong and they still do nothing to prevent it. When you know something is wrong and you fight for the side that doing the wrong doing that inherently makes you a worse person because despite your morality telling you are mistaken you continue in your course of action.

No, sorry, your analogy isn't more accurate and is FAR less accurate than mine. Your analogy has only one victim, when in fact, there were far more issues than just "rights for black people" at stake during that war. Now a working father can make a choice between staying at home and teaching his son how to ride a bike, or go to work and make a living so they have enough money to eat. Which issue takes priority?

Lee made a judgement call that whatever issue he was fighting for had priority over getting rid of black slavery. Am I comparing black slavery to not knowing how to ride a bike? Pretty much. Just cause Lee fought a war against people who SAID they were going to liberate the black people from slavery doesn't mean that if Lee had won and survived the war that he wouldn't have gone right back to working to abolish slavery himself. You make it out that joining the confederacy was like joining the borg and that he no longer had any thoughts or views of his own exept those that have been publicized about the group he fought under.

So quit with this notion that somehow Lee is a horrible person simply because he had other concerns than just "abolishing slavery"

And a student that doesn't respect his or her teacher should be expelled from school, but I don't see that happening.

Actually, it's been fairly civil, all things considered. I mean, some people have expressed racist views or vehement hatred towards various individuals, but there hasn't really been any major personal attacks or insults that I've really noticed.
