Forums - Sales Discussion - We have some Spanish software sales - DS figures are insane !!

i guess the thing that would stand out is that 360 doesn't appear to be doing all that well in Spain.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Wow. 350K copies of Brain Training, and 150K for Nintendogs Dalmations alone is a pretty strong showing. If that Dalmations number indicates overall Nintendogs sales of 500-600K or more, you can see how 6+ million copies of Nintendogs have sold in "others" regions... Wii Play and Zelda outsold Gears of War... That should tell people how the 360 vs. Wii battle is shaping up in Spain, anyways...

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

Its curious as Adese here doesnt usually give the numbers just the rankings . By the way some of those numbers could benefit from some tweakings ....the data for games on the Platinum series recently released doesnt add to the previous sales of those games .For example ,Dragonball Shin Budokai on the PSP was on the Top Ten for two months back in june last year yet this charts only add the recent sales of the just released platinum edition .

Spain is the most notorious 360 country in Europe (just check mygamercard's actual registered Spain gamers, it's non-existant compared to even Germany and France). Very suprising - all the top 360 s/w can't hold a candle to the PS3 software. The PS3 will easily outclass the 360 in Spain. Hey ioi, can we get some "official" European prediction leagues going at some time? Maybe even country by country? Hehe.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

360 numbers are horrible - GoW only done 40k? Amazing to see Brain Training outselling everything... (even Zelda:TP has only done 60k...).

The DS is dominating Europe. Tenth best selling DS games sells better than the best selling 360, PSP or PC game.

Spain has 40 million people vs 300 million in the US, so if you zoom up Spanish sales by a factor of 7.5 you can compare how key titles perform in Spain vs. the US.

Performing better in Spain:
171%: NDS - Brain Training (2.65 vs. 1.55)
120%: NDS - Animal Crossing DS (1.56 vs. 1.30)

Performing worse in Spain:
47%: NDS - New Super Mario Bros. (1.25 vs. 2.68)
40%: PS3 - Resistance (0.27 vs 0.67)
28%: WII - Zelda Twilight Princess (0.44 vs. 1.55)
12%: 360 - Gears of War (0.33 vs. 2.67)

You can see that
a) the Spanish market is generally not as strong as the US market
b) nevertheless it's part of the European trend to adopt the NDS Touch Generations concept more readily than US consumers and
c) 360 sales are not that good

Hardcore gaming is a bubble economy blown up by Microsoft's $7 $6 billion losses.

Damn pleasing to see, Nintendo winning the console wars in both handheld and home console department is like a religious blessing to me! :D

No im not religious.

360 only does well in the uk in europe if you look at the europe annual sales

Well, Spain is very much a Sony country if we look at the yearly sales for Europe on this site. Based on the installed base I find both numbers pretty good actually, especially Zelda. According to the yearly numbers Wii sold only 70k units until the end of 2006. If they doubled that since then they're at 140k now, which means selling 60k copies of Zelda is close to a 50% attachrate. But also XBox 360 didn't sell that many units in Spain. They were at 140k units at the end of 2006 and judging the raise in the other region since then I can't see why it would have risen a whole lot since then. So if they sold another 20k units it would mean a 25% attachrate for Gears of War, which isn't too bad. Of course it's lower than in the US, but to be fair, Gears of War in my opinion is first and foremost developed for the market in the US.
