3 million consoles sold, 3 not 1, can you make the numbers any smaller?

If you're talking about Japan alone (which the "jp" in the thread title implies), then the figure is only 1 million, Mr. CK.

 Are you saying that if Sony charged money for GT HD it would have sold more then if they gave it away as they have? How was getting something for free worse for sales then charging for it.

Everybody's Golf 3 sold 1.3 million something on the ps2 while Smash Bros. sold 1.3 million something on the GC with Smash bros. at a slight lead. The difference though Smash bros. launched with the GC at a user base of around 300,000, while Everybody's golf launched with the ps2 userbase around 5 million. This time around the Wii will have a muchbigger lead on the ps3. Plus the last Everybody's Golf game was the psp version which launched with the system in japan and failed to help it surpass the DS in sales that week. And ultimatly only sold around 700,000. While Smash bros. will now sport characters from other franchises outside of Nintendo namely Solid Snake, and possibly sonic. I imagine Everybody's golf would be fortunate to sell more then 500,000, while Smash Bros. should break 1.5 and possibly 2 million.

(don't get me wrong though I'm not trying to knock Everybody's Golf/Hot shots golf I like the game and bought the psp version when it came out. I just fail to see a golf game doing as much for the ps3 as FF can.

I also think this list is crazy Gundam Musou was a great point to bring out. this link is distorted greatly by hardcore fans and the realitive excitment garnered for lovers of certain genres. I don't recall seeing Pokemon Wii Sports/play on the list and they have and will have had outsold everything on this list. 

so the game will be delayed for a year or so?

Let me just say, I just checked the Famitsu Most Wanted list from back in September of last year Final Fantasy III remake for the DS was rated number 1 and Pokemon D/P was rated number 3, they launched a month from one another and FF III sold about 500,000 opening week, while Pokemon sold 1.6 million.  FF III eventually sold 1.1 million with Pokemon selling 5.2 million, my point is if this list is to be believed to some degree how does a game that continues to outrank another game on the list even after it's launch and hype dies down when it fails to sell a 1/5 the amount?

I grow tired of this tread because most people who hyped Gundam Musou, and said that "PS3 dominance in Japan begins in March with Gundam Musou" are the same people who are now claiming that "Gundam Musou was not expected to sell well, and it is a crappy game anyways."

Regardless of whether you want to admit it or not, a large number of console games on the PS2 (and any system) were bought because the consumer liked the genre/game and already owned (or was already planning to purchase) a PS2. Why games like Ridge Racer, Gundam Musou and Virtual Fighter have sold so poorly is because few people were going to buy a PS3 specifically for these games. A game like Final Fantasy will sell worse on the PS3 because it has not sold that many systems (meaning not that many people already own a PS3) and only a subset of the people who bought Final Fantasy for the PS2 will be willing to buy a PS3 specifically for Final Fantasy.

But hell, you simply don't understand basic logic so I'll just say what you want to here

Who said anything about dominance of the ps3 when Hot shots comes out nobody. The ps3 wont be dominant in jp for a while if ti ever is i am just saying that it will have sold 1 million by the time Hot shots is released. I never said that the chart translated into sales just that it was interesting seeing how well the wii is doing. If sony had shipped GTHD w/ more content the ps3 would have sold better( probably still behind the wii) kind of like ( probaly not close to though) wii sports in jp. You ppl love putting words in my mouth I have said all i am saying but u ********s keep telling me i am saying something different . STOP. i dont know how simple i could state this stop telling me i am saying something i am not.

well if you mean PS3 will pass 1 million when Hot Shots is released i actually agree with you.

Sorry dude, but you'll see what I mean when Lair comes out... I can't say that it will totally flop very badly but it isn't going to be the PS3's saving grace like everyone says it is. It's a pretty game, but it isn't going to do huge things... I see Motorstorm level success with that game. If you agree with almost everything else that I said than that, then that's acceptable but that's just my opinion. I don't doubt that the game is awesome, i don't doubt the game will be a hell of a lot of fun to play and I don't doubt that the graphics will be the best on the PS3 thus far. I just don't think the sales for Lair are going to be big, it's tooooo niche, it's niche on Okami levels, it's niche on a 'cliche' dragon rider Eragon game level (seriously if this game had the Eragon name it would sell 500x more). Sorry but my opinion. It's not at all like saying Gears of War or Halo is going to flop, how can you make the comparison like that between those two? Saying GTAIV will flop is like saying Gears or Halo will flop, but not Lair... wait and see and mark my words Lair will not sell over 500,000 in USA, and that's a flop for a game that is supposed to be so huge.

The PS3 shouldnt worry about the Xbox this time around. The PS3 will know doubt (in my mind) sell more units then the 360. The Wii is what will screw over Sony because a lot of big time Japanesse company's (Square-Enix, Capcom, and many others) are making games for the Wii. Right know PS3 is getting more bigger games (FFXIII, FFXIII Versus, MH3, RE5, and many others) but how long till the companies move there big games to the Wii? Who knows maybe the rest of the FXIII games will go to the Wii which would leave a big impact. Like the PSP though Sony doesnt need to sell more to make money but right now they do because there losing so much money.
