It's Squall from Final Fantasy 8.

why does he have holes in him?

:P

Well that explains the holes, but raises the question of why is he hollow (yes I know how 3D models work).

I have improved! I will one day succeed!

I am thinking of upgrading my PC...

grabbing a Samsung 840 120GB SSD

Asus Z87-C Mobo (cheapest board with the features I want)

i5-4670K (stock cooler for now then grab a better cooler some time next year and push overclock as needed, I don't expect too much due to the well known heat issues with Haswell but I am not too fussed I doubt games will be stressing it much and I don't do heavy video or anything. it's only $10 more than a 3570K for 10% better performance)

8GB G.Skill RAM (much faster stuff than the stuff I am using now)

Thoughts?

Get the Samsung 840 Pro instead. (No cheap TLC NAND, Longer warranty, faster, doesn't cost much more.)

In-fact what's your current system?

I'm kinda pushing the limits of what I am willing to spend on this upgrade already TBH, is the pro series really worth the extra $70NZD? Write speed isn't that important to me TBH especially coming from a mechanical HDD, and the random access difference shouldn't have a huge impact. But the much longer life of MLC is a nice advantage I have to admit I guess it might be worth biting the bullet for that.

Currently running off a Phenom II 955 (aparently I got a bad batch or something because it does not like to be overclocked) and a cheap ASUS M4A87TD/USB3 Mobo, plus 8GB of cheap 1333 DDR3.

I should mention I plan on replacing my 560 Ti (@900MHz) next year some time before The Witcher 3 hits. I would like to think that Maxwell will drop in time, fingers crossed anyway. The recent Nvidia driver bullshit has kinda made me consider jumping back to AMD but Witcher 3 makes me want to stick with Nvidia lol, I am such a sucker.

AMD CPU's are a bit more complex (And thus problematic) to overclock compared to Intel. (With the exception of Socket 2011 if you get into the nitty gritty.)
Heck, the culprit might actually be the motherboard or HT Link speed, Ram Multiplier, NB clock or lack of voltage, I'm yet to meet a Phenom 2 that couldn't be pushed to 3.8ghz or more.

As for the Ram, I say hang onto that, the only time you *really* notice a difference with faster Ram is with IGP's and APU's which are bandwidth starved anyway, use that money saved and channel it into the SSD.

I was planning to offload my old CPU, Mobo to my little brothers so I might as well grab the better RAM lol.

As Permalite said, I'd go this the Pro with MLC NAND. If price matters and you're not too worried about speed, you could get a Crucial SSD, which also have good prices and performance.

The i5-4670K is also the CPU I'm looking to get, but I'll go with a mobo in the 150-200 € range, something between the Z87-Plus (right angled S-ATA FTW!) and the Hero (I'm also looking at other boards form ASRock and MSI).

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

hmm how about the Kingston V300? It's MLC bassed and not much more than the Samsung 840, speed doesn't seem tobe anything to write home about but should still be a hell of a lot faster than a mechanical drive. Seems like a reasonable option.

SO MANY GIFS....

The only PC game I've been playing lately has been Scrolls and that was a while back...but at least I haven't turned to the toilet known as facebook gaming (and I used to think Farmville was annoying. Candy Crush Saga eats at my very existence).

How is Scrolls by the way, is it any good, worth the money?

Tho if you are a facebook gamer maybe you are not the kind of person I should ask....
