Monday news, part two:

Summer Games Done Quick will be online-only this year
https://www.pcgamer.com/summer-games-done-quick-will-be-online-only-this-year/
Summer Games Done Quick, the annual good weather showcase of serious speedrunners, will be held entirely online this year. Usually the Games Done Quick events are performed before a live audience, but organizers said that because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it's just not possible in 2020.

Steam Game Festival and EA Play Live have been postponed
https://www.pcgamer.com/steam-game-festival-and-ea-play-live-have-been-postponed/
The Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition, has been postponed. It was originally slated to run June 9-14, but Valve said today that it's been pushed back to June 16-22.
The Steam page for the Game Festival hasn't been updated yet, but the Steamworks page for developers does reflect the new dates.
>> And I think that's basically official, all the events have been postponed.

Long-lost Maxis game SimRefinery is now available to everyone
https://www.pcgamer.com/long-lost-maxis-game-simrefinery-is-now-available-to-everyone/
Way back in the days before The Sims asserted its absolute dominance over all the land, the success of SimCity inspired a ton of different, sometimes weird Sim-style games, including SimEarth, SimGolf, SimCopter, SimHealth, SimAnt, and SimRefinery. You may not have heard of that last one because, as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SimRefinery" target="_blank">Wikipedia says, it wasn't released to the public—it was developed by a business-oriented branch of Maxis for internal use at energy corporation Chevron.

Destiny 2 just blew up a big spaceship really slowly [updated]
https://www.pcgamer.com/destiny-2-is-ready-to-fire-its-biggest-gun-in-the-games-first-live-event/
Destiny 2's Season of the Worthy kicked off with a new hassle for humanity: The Red Legion isn't taking its recent ass-kicking well, and has aimed its mega-huge star-eating spaceship The Almighty at the Earth as a final "up yours" on its way out the door. Is this the end for our brave Guardians?
[Update] For a game that has been criticised for relying on 'you had to be there' in order to motivate its players base, Destiny 2's first in-game live event was the proverbial mixed bag. Guardians turned up in the tower at 10.00 AM Pacific to witness the season-ending showdown between a vast Cabal spaceship called The Almighty, which was hurtling (honestly, quite slowly) towards us, and Rasputin, the weaponised AI 'Warmind' which had been tasked with shooting it down.

The Rock of Ages 3 open beta starts on June 9th
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-rock-of-ages-3-open-beta-starts-on-june-9th/
Fun series about rolling a heavy object to crush things Rock of Ages is getting a new sequel soon, and that's exciting, and also it's going to have an open beta, which is more exciting. The open beta for Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break will start on June 9th, and you can sign up for it at publisher Modus Games' website. Rock of Ages first came out in 2011, back when there were like five or six new games on Steam a week max. It was followed by eye-wateringly-bad pun title Rock of Ages 2: Bigger & Boulder in 2017. I'm honestly a bit disappointed that ACE Team didn't think of a better joke for the third game's title.

Desperados 3 has a neat new interactive trailer
https://www.pcgamer.com/desperados-3-has-a-neat-interactive-trailer-for-all-yall-murderous-cowboys/
The game is set to launch on June 16, and publishers THQ Nordic are pulling out some quirky ideas to promote the game. One is an interactive trailer that highlights the choices of tactics that underlie the real-time tactics and stealth combo genre.
>> Or even better, go to GOG, download the free demo and try it by yourselves.

DLC announced for turn-based tactics RPG Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark
https://www.pcgamer.com/dlc-announced-for-turn-based-tactics-rpg-fell-seal-arbiters-mark/
Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark was a Kickstarter success story, a game inspired by Final Fantasy Tactics only available right here on PC. It came out in 2019 and seems to be a hit with players, currently sitting on a Very Positive rating on Steam.
It's about to receive its first expansion, called Missions and Monsters. This DLC will add recruitable monsters with their own subclass system, three new classes for human PCs (Beastmaster, Samurai, and Wrangler), Arbiter's Guilds which can be upgraded, and recruits who can be sent out on missions for you. There's also new equipment, five new locations, more crafting recipes, and additional encounters which include "the largest-scale battles seen in-game".

Megaquarium goes freshwater in a crocodile-filled expansion
https://www.pcgamer.com/megaquarium-goes-freshwater-in-a-crocodile-filled-expansion/
Aquarium management sim Megaquarium has a lovely new expansion focusing on freshwater critters. To my delight, this includes crocodiles. I like them because they are dinosaurs. However you are not here to hear about how much I like these majestic, living examples of Earth's past. (It's a lot.)

Shooter World War 3 to revamp and relaunch with a new publisher
https://www.pcgamer.com/shooter-world-war-3-to-revamp-and-relaunch-with-a-new-publisher/
Modern military shooter World War 3 will be revamping and expanding with backing from a new publisher, says development studio The Farm 51. The Farm 51 will partner with global publisher MY.GAMES, known for the shooter Warface, on World War 3, though The Farm 51 has emphasized many times since announcing the partnership that they will retain creative control over what goes into the game. MY.GAMES will assist with publishing, marketing, community management, customer support, and backend infrastructure for World War 3.

Crucible is removing two of its three game modes
https://www.pcgamer.com/crucible-is-removing-two-of-its-three-game-modes/
Amazon's free-to-play hero shooter Crucible had what we charitably call a mixed reception when it launched last month (our reviewer gave it a 48). Last week, developers Relentless Studios released a statement explaining the feedback and criticism has been heard, and they have plans to deal with it.

Elite Dangerous: Odyssey won't launch with VR support
https://www.pcgamer.com/elite-dangerous-odyssey-wont-launch-with-vr-support/
Elite Dangerous: Odyssey offers the tantalising promise of, at last, being able to jump out of your ship and go for a wander. The expansion, due out early next year, sounds like the most significant update to the space sim yet, but Frontier has confirmed that it's not one that you'll be able to experience in VR—at least not at launch.

Devotion is finally getting released, but only in Taiwan
https://www.pcgamer.com/devotion-is-finally-getting-released-but-only-in-taiwan/
Last year, Taiwanese developer Red Candle Games pulled its first-person horror game, Devotion, from Steam. At the time, it cited technical issues and claimed it was just doing another QA check. It never returned. But now it's finally back, kinda. It's getting a limited physical release, but only in Taiwan.

Also it looks like Altus will be joining the PC gaming show this year. Maybe Persona perhaps? Please? I wouldn't mind double dipping on steam!

I'm not going to lie, I haven't played a single Persona game and it's a series that don't interest me. With that out of the way, the more the merrieras I always say. And let's be honest, since they're now owned by Sega and Sega puts all their games on PC, it was only a matter of time before Persona would make the jump.

That said, it isn't the first time we hear rumors of Persona coming to PC, and it hasn't happened yet. It could very well be a new Shin Megami Tensei or even a new IP.

Here's hoping since Altus can be very stubborn. Hopefully with the new generation, Altus gets a different mindset about PC as many other Japanese devs have

When EA does what Blizzard Don't (Warcraft Remastered)... I don't like this timeline...

^ Yeah a lot has been put into the C&C remaster. The added controls changes like double clicking units and shift clicking and UI changes make this play like more modern RTS, yet keeps the gameplay and charm of the original. Good stuff

I think I'm up for disappointment again this yr, because although Atlus is on that list, a good half of those on the list are already making games that are EGS exclusive, meaning once again, half of that show is being centred around storefront promotion =/

Really wish PCgamer would get off the EG payroll.

Money is money so I doubt that's gonna happen sadly.

On the bright side, lets say Persona 5 does happen and it's on EGS for idk, a year? 6 months? 3 months? Since the number of exclusivity months seems to be going down. I'd rather have the game be on PC and then wait until it's no longer EGS exclusive and buy it on steam than not have the option. It's not ideal for sure but it is better than the alternative of not having it at all. I don't like EGS's exclusivity tactics at all hence I haven't bought a single game in that store but it means I can get games on steam eventually, better than nothing...

Plus when you look at it, it could be a similar situation like those David Cage games being first on EGS but then other Sony published games after like Death Stranding and Horizon being on Steam since I am assuming EGS couldn't pay those off. Could be similar situation with Altus since publishers do ask for more money with bigger IPs.

DO IT! Show these companies that when they do good things, you will support those games!

And obviously, it's a fantastic remaster!
