RimWorld is getting an add-on for its Royalty DLC
https://www.pcgamer.com/rimworld-is-getting-an-add-on-for-its-royalty-dlc/

Valorant will run on surprisingly low-end PCs
https://www.pcgamer.com/valorant-system-requirements/
Now that Riot has finally pulled back the curtain on Valorant, the 5v5 CS:GO-meets-Overwatch shooter formerly known as Project A, the details are starting to flow. We've got information on the game's characters, we've got a closer look at the netcode and anti-cheat systems that keep it all running, we've got a hands-on preview that you should probably spend some time with, and now we've got the lowdown on what sort of PC you'll need if you want to play.

Halo: Combat Evolved teaser may hint at an imminent Steam release
https://www.pcgamer.com/halo-combat-evolved-teaser-may-hint-at-an-imminent-steam-release/
The Halo: Combat Evolved portion of the five-game Halo: The Master Chief Collection—which comes in the form of 2011's 'Anniversary' remake—recently concluded a couple weeks of beta testing, and going by the February wrap-up at the Halo Waypoint website, it was a very productive event. A number of outstanding issues were resolved, an updated crouch/movement system was added because the legacy system "wasn't a good experience on PC," and players seemed very happy with the experience.

In Half-Life: Alyx, you can protect yourself from barnacles by wearing a hard hat
https://www.pcgamer.com/in-half-life-alyx-you-can-protect-yourself-from-barnacles-by-wearing-a-hard-hat/
We got a nice look at some new Half-Life: Alyx gameplay videos today, showing combat, puzzles, gravity gloves, upgradable guns, and more from the upcoming VR-only Half-Life 2 prequel. And at one point in the first video, a fun bit of interaction occurs: Alyx uses her gravity gloves to snatch a yellow hard hat from a nearby crate and plop it onto her head. Team Fortress 2's engineer would no doubt be proud.
But it's not just whimsy—it looks like that hard hat can literally save your neck. IGN posted a video of some hands-on Half-Life: Alyx gameplay today too, and in it we see a barnacle attempt to strangle Alyx as she wanders into its dangling tongue.

League of Legends' maligned client is getting a revamp
https://www.pcgamer.com/league-of-legends-maligned-client-is-getting-a-revamp/
To put it mildly, people don't seem to like the League of Legends client. So it's welcome news that Riot Games has announced a 'Client Cleanup Campaign', which is just a slightly over-formal way of saying that they're going to fix it.

It's not a term that gets much usage these days, and it will fade a little more later this month when Riot closes the League of Legends Boards.

The GDC Relief Fund is raising money for indies affected by the postponement
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-gdc-relief-fund-is-raising-money-for-indies-affected-by-the-postponement/
GDC was postponed last week after companies started to pull out due to concerns about the coronavirus, which unfortunately left a lot of developers in a jam. GDC passes are being refunded, but there are a great many other costs involved in going to the event, as well as the time and effort spent on preparing demos and presentations.
To alleviate the burden, Wings Interactive has teamed up with several companies to open the GDC Relief Fund. Developers can apply through the website, with recipients being picked based on how much the postponement is estimated to affect them financially.

Europa Universalis 4 pits emperors against revolutionaries in its next DLC
https://www.pcgamer.com/europa-universalis-4-pits-emperors-against-revolutionaries-in-its-next-dlc/
Europa Universalis 4 is getting another expansion, bringing the number up to daunting 13. I'm two expansions behind, but I'm only human, not some grand strategy machine. The technology just isn't there yet. The Emperor expansion promises to spice things up for the Holy Roman Empire, Papal State and other Catholic nations, and as always it will be accompanied by a chunky free patch.

The Yakuza Bundle is criminally cheap on Steam right now
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-yakuza-bundle-is-criminally-cheap-on-steam-right-now/
Yakuza's arrival on PC back in 2018 was a real treat, finally putting some of Japan's finest open-world RPGs on PC after more than a decade of console exclusivity. If you're yet to meet Kazuma Kiryu and pals, there's not been a better opportunity to jump in, as all three PC versions have shed their price on Steam. Steam's Best of Japan sale is really just a random assortment of Sega games, but there are a couple of standouts. The Yakuza Bundle collects Yakuza 0, the '80s prequel, as well as Kiwami and Kiwami 2, the remakes of the first two games. That's hundreds of hours of brawling and misadventures, and by the time you're finished there's a good chance there will be more of them on PC.
>> With a 61% discount, it's not *that* cheap. But that's not the only new deal at Steam, there are another 3 Midweek Madness deals:

https://www.pcgamer.com/curse-of-the-dead-gods-is-a-fast-bloody-action-roguelike-with-a-striking-visual-style/
The most immediately notable thing about Curse of the Dead Gods, a new action-roguelike that debuted today on Steam Early Access, is its stark, striking visual style. It's colorful, luminescent, shadowy in all the right ways, and filed with high-intensity flashes of blood and fire. But the gameplay, while not exactly groundbreaking, looks really promising too.

The latest bit of gadgetry to come to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is neither a gun, nor a bomb, nor a swanky bit of electronic guffola that enables you to see bad guys through walls, at which point you can blow them into sticky bits with guns and bombs. No, it is fact a Tamagotchi, one of those little digital pets that you wear on your wrist, play with for a few minutes, and then forget about until it starves.

To beat up Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous' demonic hordes, players will be able to embark on a mythic path, turning their hero or villain into one of six extremely extra specialisations: Angel, Demon, Lich, Trickster, Aeon and Azata. Developer Owlcat says they're Wrath of the Righteous' main feature, and in a recent AMA they offered up some more details about how they work.

Roller Champions is getting a closed alpha next week
https://www.pcgamer.com/roller-champions-closed-alpha/
We've not heard much about Roller Champions, Ubisoft's Rocket League-style roller derby romp, since it was announced at E3 last year. Like me, you might have forgotten all about it. It's still moving forward, however, and you might be able to put on some skates and flail around very soon, as Ubisoft's hosting a closed alpha next week.

Doom Eternal shows off its heavy metal choir

Last year, Doom Eternal composer Mick Gordon put out an open call for vocalists to join a heavy metal choir for an unspecified project. That unspecified project was, not surprisingly, Doom Eternal, and more than 20 vocalists teamed up to create a creepy chant that crops up throughout the soundtrack.

Friday news, part two:

Become a cyberpunk courier in Cloudpunk next month
https://www.pcgamer.com/become-a-cyberpunk-courier-in-cloudpunk-next-month/
Fifth Element ensured that I will never stop pining for sci-fi games that let me fly between skyscrapers and dodge traffic in my futuristic car, and it looks like Cloudpunk is primed to scratch that itch. It's a story-driven cyberpunk exploration game that puts you behind the wheel of a flying delivery van, and it's coming to Steam on April 23.

Baldur's Gate 3 AMA is happening next week
https://www.pcgamer.com/baldurs-gate-3-ama-is-happening-next-week/
I've really been up and down about Baldur's Gate 3 ever since it was announced. I was super-excited when I first heard that it was happening—I love the Baldur's Gate series—but I was put off by all the illithid and githyanki and flying squid ship stuff, which is far too exotic for my basic dungeon-crashing tastes. And then there's the nostalgia factor. I want more Baldur's Gate, but do I want to risk tainting my sweet memories of the perfect digital D&D experience?
(...)
More concrete information about what's in store will hopefully be coming next week, in an AMA with Swen Vincke (Creative Director), David Walgrave (Producer), Adam Smith (Senior Writer), Nick Pechenin (Lead Systems Designer), and Jiji (Writing Director, and whose last name I have been unable to dig up) that will take place at 11 am PT/2 pm ET on March 12, on Reddit. Baldur's Gate 3 is set to launch into Early Access later this year.

Fallout 76 Wastelanders won't override the base game's story
https://www.pcgamer.com/fallout-76-wastelanders-wont-override-the-base-games-story/

Bungie is adding more ways for Destiny 2 players to reach max power
https://www.pcgamer.com/bungie-is-adding-more-ways-for-destiny-2-players-to-reach-max-power/
A new Destiny 2 season begins next week, which means this week's This Week at Bungie post is more informative than other weeks. It's not weak, is what I'm trying to say. There are a lot of shifts and tweaks revealed throughout, but perhaps the most wide-ranging change over previous seasons is a planned increase in the number of Pinnacle reward sources.

Rust gets more security conscious with the CCTV update
https://www.pcgamer.com/rust-gets-more-security-conscious-with-the-cctv-update/
If you've ever taken a look at your base in Rust and thought it just didn't look quite dystopian enough, or perhaps not enough like London, you're in luck. The March update has arrived, and with it comes CCTV cameras that you can use to keep an eye on loiterers and other threats.
