Forums - Gaming Discussion - Iwata: SSB:Brawl, Galaxy, & MP3 in 2007!!!

"Metroid Prime is not out yet, so this is just the opinion of testers, but it's being rated close to the keyboard and mouse control that's the standard for PC games"

"The president clarified that he's not sure if all these games will necessarily see release. (Referring to the 100+ games in dev) However, the number does include some of the big Wii games that are set for release between the end of summer and fall, including Super Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros. Iwata hinted that these are real gamer games, rather than the casual stuff that we're seeing a lot of on the DS."

As I have said all along they will put these three games out from end of summer, August through November. It will be huge! and Metroid Prime 3 will prove the Wii-mote FPS superiority to the dual analog crap.

i think it will be 2 huge 2 much major titles released in al small timeframe, would they not hurt each other? but they are in any case before the holidays

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I was expecting all three to be done by January 1st 2008 ...

Metroid Prime 3 and Super Smash Bros. Brawl had somewhere between 6 and 12 months development time by E3 2006; this would put them at (roughly) 18 to 24 months of development time currently and 24 to 30 months by January 1st 2008 (long enough to have a completed, polished game). From what we have seen of Super Mario Galaxy I would assume that it has been in development as long (or longer) then MP3 and SSB:B ...

I personally expect Nintendo to release 3 major "core gamer" games in the second half of 2007 (probably these three games) and three major games which appeal to "non gamers" like Animal Crossing (forever Blue and Wii Fitness would be my other guesses) ...

The thing is he is talking about Japan..I doubt all three will come out in any market this year.  I can see Galaxy and Brawl making Japan by the end of the year, Galaxy in Europe, and Galaxy and Brawl in the USA by the end of the year is like a 50/50 shot to me.

Iwata doesn't really say Prime 3 will make it out in 2007...

In the USA, the holiday Wii lineup will probably be...

Galaxy, Mario & Sonic at the Olympics, Resident Evil, DDR Hot Mix, Wii Health or Wii Music, Disaster or Hammer, Guitar Hero 3...which is why I don't think  - they really need to/realy will release Brawl this year.

With RE 4 Wii, Mario Party 8, Zelda, Paper Mario, Wii Play, Madden, Tiger Woods, Nights, Boogie, Warioware, Rayman, Red Steel and a few others selling fairly well over the holidays too, they will spread out the uber 10  (Mario platformer, Zelda, Brawl, Metroid, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, Starfox, Donkey Kong, Kid Icarus) for a while.  Zelda is already out, Pokemon will be out soon.  There are 5 aces in that hand - Zelda, Mario, Brawl, Pokemon and Mario Kart - guarenteed huge hits - and Nintendo can't just use them lightly.

Not likely since those who own a ninty system will likely want these games, so even if they release them at about the same time it wont affect demand, it might make their initial sales smaller, but it will just mean that the sales last longer

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Yeah, you're probably right about not all 3 in all regions. However, I do think MP3 will make it to NA/EU this year. It was finished, technically, at launch. The only reason it has been delayed was to perfect the use of the wii-mote. Originally it was going to work like redsteel, then Nintendo saw how much editors, like IGN, and others who played it really disliked that setup. So, they held it back to perfect it as close to pc type of gameplay. Now, He is stating it is near perfect to the pc style and I am positive it will release in like July/August for NA/EU. I bet Galaxy/MP3 will come to NA, MP3/SSB to EU and SSB/Galaxy to JP. Then in Early 2008 the 3rd game will come to each other region.
