The recent sales updates were from me.

The japanese industry publishes a white paper every year with updated numbers of companies who want to share their data and gladly Nintendo is very open about theirs.
There will be a few more updates in the upcoming days/weeks as I get to working though that list.

OoT 3D, MM3D, ALBW already got their updates.
I hope to find a mention of BotW for WiiU but don't count on it.

Awesome.

Yeah I guess BotW WiiU only got a shipment or two like TP GC did, I don’t expect it to have sold any more than the number we know.

Hey gang, I stopped by Nintendo World in Manhattan earlier this month and snapped as many Zelda photos as possible

(..)

Cool stuff! I would’ve wanted to be there with you though.

Sales update this week if the Switch version has made it to around 15m that would put the total at 17m for BOTW 3m off a second diamond land mark (diamond is a music term btw for 10m sales so essentially 20m). I have a feeling the sequel will be in 2021 as well which would give the game ample time to break that barrier, the series' new role as the first party answer to the GTA sandbox will be an interesting one to watch unfold considering what go into each installment it's good to see it hitting numbers that reward the effort.

16m total now for BOTW should be 17m by the end of the year.

Breath of the Wild has a shot at 20M. Even on Switch alone. A Zelda game selling that high, was unthinkable even up to two and a half years ago. It also looks like it's success is lifting the bars of other games, with Link's Awakening selling over 3M in under two weeks. This makes me so happy.

Really exciting stuff. Zelda as a franchise has definitely jumped into a different sales tier this generation.

With the recent financial figures. Breath of the Wild is officially the best selling Zelda game of all time in Japan. Between both the NS and Wii U versions, Japanese sales for Breath of the Wild are at least 1.9 million units sold as of September 30th, with 1.78 million coming from the NS version alone. Both of these figures comfortably surpass the 1.69 million unit figure of the original Legend of Zelda on the NES, the previous record holder.
At this point, 2 million in Japan is a lock. In fact, 2.5 million may even be a possibility depending on how strong the game's legs are between now to the end of the Switch's life cycle.

That's what usually happens when you cater to mass market with fairly solid product and well known IP to build upon.

So I was still thinking about this. And I realized. 3.13M in 10 days, is actually amazing. I'm positive this is by far the fastest a Zelda game has ever sold; Breath of the Wild didn't do that in 10 days because obviously it's userbase was zero at the start, same for Twilight Princess. Skyward Sword even didn't do it with it's giant potential sales base because 3.13M is actually already almost Skyward Sword's lifetime sales. Maybe Ocarina of Time, on N64, though I doubt it because I assume it's legs would've been better than that back then. I do know Ocarina was the most pre-ordered game ever at the time.
